[edit]From Proto-Finnic *porcas, from Proto-Finno-Permic *porćas, borrowed from a descendant of Proto-Indo-European *pórḱos (either Balto-Slavic or Indo-Iranian). Related to Erzya пурцос (purcos). Ultimately cognate with English pork.
