From Middle Dutch nochdan, from Old Dutch *nohthan, from Proto-West Germanic *nohþan, from Proto-Germanic *nuhþan. Compare Gothic 𐌽𐌰𐌿𐌷𐌸𐌰𐌽 (nauhþan, still, yet), Old High German noh danne (yet), Old Saxon nohthan (yet), and the similarly formed German dennoch (anyhow).
