[edit]From Middle Dutch nochdan, from Old Dutch *nohthan, from Proto-West Germanic *nohþan, from Proto-Germanic *nuhþan. Compare Gothic 𐌽𐌰𐌿𐌷𐌸𐌰𐌽 (nauhþan, “still, yet”), Old High German noh danne (“yet”), Old Saxon nohthan (“yet”), and the similarly formed German dennoch (“anyhow”).
