Etymology

From Proto-Cariban *môkɨ (animate singular distal demonstrative pronoun) *-rô (emphatic particle). Compare Trió mëërë, Wayana mëklë, Waiwai mïkro, Kari'na mòko. The first element is equivalent to the distal demonstrative mö'kü, mökkü.
