Etymology

Perhaps from the metathesis of an unattested *casalán, from Arabic كَسْلَان (kaslān, lazy).[1] Compare Spanish holgazán. Alternatively a derogatory formation from lacón (pig shoulder), as its synonym lacoeiro.[2]
