[edit]From Proto-Finnic *küü (compare Estonian küü), possibly from Proto-Uralic *kije (compare Erzya гуй (guj), Moksha куй (kuj), Hungarian kígyó), or alternatively an old clipping for kyykäärme (see the Proto-Finnic entry for more).
