Etymology

Coined by Jan Svatopluk Presl[1] as kyselý (acidic, sour)-ík, based on Latin oxygenium from Ancient Greek ὀξύς (oxús, sharp) γένος (génos, birth) (referring to oxygen's role in the formation of acids).
