[edit]From Proto-Balto-Slavic *kraujas, from Proto-Indo-European *krewh₂- (“blood of a wound”). Cognate with Old Prussian crauyo, Proto-Slavic *kry, Sanskrit क्रविस् (kravis), Greek κρέας (kréas).[1]
