[edit]From Proto-Finnic *kainalo, possibly from Proto-Uralic *konɜ *ëla or a derivation from käden (*käδen) ala > *käδen-ala > *käen-ala > *kain-alo. Compare Udmurt кун-ул (kun-ul).
