From Javanese ꦗꦫꦥꦃ (jarapah), from Arabic زَرَافَة (zarāfa), from Classical Syriac ܙܵܪܝܼܦܵܐ (zarāfa). Doublet of zarafah, zirafah. Attested before 1967.
