[edit]From Middle High German gelimpflich, from Old High German gilimpflīh, gilimphlīh, from Proto-West Germanic *galimpalīk. Cognate with Middle Low German gelimplīk, Old English ġelimplīċ. By surface analysis, derived from the obsolete noun Glimpf -lich; compare Unglimpf.
