Etymology

From Old Norse fótspor, equivalent to fodspor. Cognate with Norwegian Bokmål fotspor, Norwegian Nynorsk fotspor, Swedish fotspår, Icelandic fótspor, Faroese fótaspor, Dutch voetspoor (whence also Afrikaans voetspoor), German Fußspur and Low German Footspoor.
