[edit]Borrowed from Late Latin ēvāsiōnem (literally “a going out, an escaping”) (in Medieval Latin, "evasion"; genitive singular ēvāsiōnis), from Latin ēvāsus, perfect passive participle of ēvādō (“to escape, to go out”), from ē- (“out”) vādō (“to go; to walk”), from Proto-Indo-European *weh₂dʰ- (“to go”). Cognate with English wade.
