Etymology

Inherited from Ottoman Turkish دینی (dīnī /⁠dīnī⁠/), from Classical Persian دینی (dīnī /⁠dīnī⁠/), from Arabic دِينِيّ m (dīniyy). By surface analysis, din (religion)-i (nisba suffix).

Compare also Azerbaijani dini, Kazakh діни (dıni), etc.
