[edit]Borrowed from Arabic الْبَيْطَار (al-bayṭār, “veterinarian, farrier”), from Ancient Greek ἱππιατρός (hippiatrós), from ἵππος (híppos, “horse”) ἰατρός (iatrós, “physician”).
