Another Confusing Usage

I’m not sure how to handle this, so I’ll just quote my source:

To see the statue of Saint Anthony paraded through the streets, one would assume that the event is funded by the crowd-donated streamers of money, called calendars, strewn around the saint.

Calendering

I'm not sure how to add a new etymology section, but we need one I think for the following: Calendaring "A process used to finish cloth by passing it through rollers under pressure. The machine is called a calendar.
