@Thadh: Hi! Is it possible to introduce suffix-like elements and a residual base components into the Wiktionary? It will all be at the level of morphophonology, but it's easier to describe stress this way. Gnosandes ❀ (talk) 19:04, 24 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Gnosandes: I don't understand what you mean. Could you give me an example? Thadh (talk) 19:15, 24 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Thadh: For example, the word агент 'agent':
аг- is a residual base component (остаточный базовый компонент) and -ент is a suffix-like element (суффиксоподобный элемент).
At the same time, all this is the root. But still, the suffix-like element is similar to the suffix in words such as корреспонд-ент 'correspondent', ассист-ент 'assistant', and the like. The suffix is borrowed and strong dominant, which means that it always carries the stress (the stress is also tied to the suffix) on itself and does not transmit it either to the left or to the right. The same thing is shown by suffix-like elements, but we cannot distinguish them as a suffix to describe, roughly speaking, this is a problem in accentology. @Gnosandes: Okay I understand now. Hm, I'm not sure if this is dictionary material, seems rather technical to me. You should approach specifically Russian editors with this, since this concerns pretty much only Balto-Slavic languages (mobile accent is a pretty rare feature cross-linguistically), so I don't think there's a need in sitewide decisions for this.
