[edit]Possibly from Proto-Indo-European *h₃r̥ǵi-pth₂-yó-s, from *h₃reǵi- (“straight”) *peth₂- (“to fly”) *-yós. Possible cognate with Old Armenian արծուի (arcui).[1]
