Etymology

[edit]

Originally a mispronunciation or misspelling of Obama. Somewhat popularized by Donald Trump during a 2018 campaign rally, in which it is thought he had unintentionally mispronounced “Obama” with an “-na” at the end, possibly in confusion with the word amnesty.[1]

Pronunciation

[edit]

[edit]

Obamna

  1. (Internet slang, humorous, US politics) Barack Obama.
    • 2024 May 8, DougDoug, 02:41 from the start, in I used Barack Obama’s hands to play Mario Party (NOT CLICKBAIT)[1], spoken by WalletWorrier_:

Usage notes

[edit]
  • Often used as an humorous interjection.
  • Used in conjunction with the word "Soda", referencing a clip of a speech by Joe Biden screaming "Minnesota"
  • Used almost purely jocularly and not derogatorily, as opposed to many other variants of “Obama” when referring to the president.
