English: In heraldry, broken (or fracted, rompu, or disjointed) chevrons can be represented artistically and described in blazon in a variety of ways (compare other images in this set).
John Woodward and George Burnett's 1892 Treatise on Heraldry has an example of a chevron broken like this, blazoned a "chevron fracted", borne by Rozier de Linage. Gough's Glossary has a chevron like this blazoned as "fracted" or "broken". Mistholme says this form is not found in the medieval period.
