From Spanish Córdoba, from Arabic قُرْطُبَة (Qurṭuba), from Latin Corduba, from Phoenician 𐤒𐤓𐤕𐤉𐤅𐤁𐤏𐤉 (qrtywbʿy or Qartuba), from 𐤒𐤓𐤕 (qrt or qart, city) 𐤉𐤅𐤁𐤏𐤉 (ywbʿy, Juba) after the Numidian king Juba I. As South American provinces, named after the Spanish city.
