Category talk:Hungarian numerals

@Panda10 It seems that the practice here is that names of ordinal numbers are put into categories like category:English ordinal numbers but not in categories like category:English numerals; instead, they are treated as adjectives (aside from being ordinal numbers). At the beginning of the chapter on adjectives in Magyar grammatika, numerals are also classified under adjectives (including even cardinal numbers). Shall we remove the terms for Hungarian ordinal numbers from category:Hungarian numerals, recategorizing them as adjectives (while keeping them in "Hungarian ordinal numbers")? Based on the equivalents of fourth, the corresponding German, Latin, Polish, and Swedish terms are classified as numerals, while the Czech, Dutch, Finnish, French, Ancient and Modern Greek, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Turkish ones, as adjectives. @Adam78 We should do what the latest Hungarian grammar books say. In Arcanum (which is old), the numbers are specified as számnév, but then grouped as melléknévi and főnévi. I don't mind if we specify them as such (adjectives and nouns) and provide additional categories using the cat2/cat3 parameters in the head template for ordinal / cardinal numbers and numerals. We just have to decide how to categorize them and make sure the header (Adjective or Noun) matches the head template. Panda10 (talk) 18:12, 19 May 2022 (UTC)
