The meanings of the columns are as follows:

  1. "Category" is the category, if any, that the page is placed into, where LANG is substituted with the language name.
  2. "Takes inflection tags" means that the template takes inflection tags similarly to {{inflection of}}.
  3. "Initial capital" means that the first letter displayed is normally capitalized. This can be changed using |nocap=1.
  4. "Final period" means that a final period (full stop) is normally displayed after the link. This can be suppressed using |nodot=1, or changed using |dot= to specify a different character.
  5. "Supports |from=, |from2=, ..." means that the parameters |from=, |from2=, etc. are supported to specify regional context labels that customize the text displayed before the link.
  6. "Supports |POS=" means that the parameter |POS= is supported to customize the categorization into which the page is placed.

Customization

[edit]

In an entry's definition line, a Form-of template states that the entry's word is a particular form of a lemma entry's word, such as its plural or even a misspelling.

Users can customize how these templates' text displays using their account- or browser-level preferences by either selecting the appropriate preference from Wiktionary:PREFS or by adding styles to Special:Mypage/monobook.css as described in Wiktionary:CUSTOM#“Form of” definitions. Here are examples of the latter method:

  • To see italicized qualifiers in “form-of” definitions such as:
    1. Form of word.
  • Add:
    .use-with-mention { font-style: italic; }
    .use-with-mention .mention { font-style: normal; }
