     Feral cats living near colonies preyed mostly on Barau's Petrels, killing >900 birds annually (58% adults, 42% fledglings) in 2 studied colonies (Faulquier et al. 2009); such predation, particularly of adults, is not sustainable in a normally long-lived species, and could lead to extinction within 100 years (Russell et al. 2009).
