[edit]Sino-Korean word from 三韓. In its original sense, the 한 (韓, han) component is thought to be from an Old Korean word meaning "big", also seen in 마한 (馬韓, Mahan), 변한 (弁韓, Byeonhan), and 진한 (辰韓, Jinhan).
