ပျော်
Appearance
Burmese
[edit]Etymology
[edit]The "happy" sense is from Proto-Tibeto-Burman *p(r/y)aw (“delight, happy, enjoy”). Cognate with Tibetan སྤྲོ (spro, “to delight in, wish”) (STEDT: pyaw "happy").
The "dissolve" sense is grouped with the "happy" sense by MED, though it is unclear if they are truly related, and STEDT gives no etymology for the former (pjɔ²² "dissolve").
