[edit]From Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (lwck' /rōzag/), 𐫡𐫇𐫝𐫃 (rwcg /rōzag/, “fast, fasting”), from Proto-Iranian *ráwčakah (“fasting”). Equivalent to روز (ruz, “day”) ـه (-e). Cognate with Baluchi روچگ (rōčag) and Southern Kurdish ڕووژە (rûje).
