[edit]From Middle Persian lʾs (/rāh/, “road, way”) from Proto-Iranian *Hrāθáh, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *Hrātʰás, from Proto-Indo-European *Hret-. Compare Old Armenian ռահ (ṙah), borrowed from Middle Iranian.
