    • 609–632 CE, Qur'an, 2:9:
      يُخَادِعُونَ ٱللّٰهَ وَٱلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَمَا يَخْدَعُونَ إِلَّا أَنْفُسَهُمْ وَمَا يَشْعُرُونَ
      yuḵādiʕūna llāha wa-llaḏīna ʔāmanū wa-mā yaḵdaʕūna ʔillā ʔanfusahum wa-mā yašʕurūna
      They seek to deceive God and those who believe, but they deceive not but themselves and perceive it not.
  2. to not be plentiful, refuse a gift
