- poking onomatopoeia
Pannonian Rusyn
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Old Slovak byť, from Proto-Slavic *byti, from Proto-Balto-Slavic *bū́ˀtei. Compare Ukrainian бу́ти (búty) for the vowel shift.
Pronunciation
[edit]Verb
[edit]буц (buc) impf
- (copulative) to be
- бул сом дома ― bul som doma ― I was at home
- (auxiliary, future tense, intransitive) used to form the future tense of imperfect verbs
- (future tense) to want [with dative; or with infinitive]
Usage notes
[edit]- Like in the East Slavic languages, usually omitted in the present tense.
- The present tense conjugated forms are instead generally used in the past tense, with the conjugated verb in the past following or followed by the corresponding present tense conjugation of буц (buc), similar to Slovak.
Conjugation
[edit]This verb needs an inflection-table template.
