Sangju is in North Gyeongsang. It is an inland region in the northwestern part of Gyeongsangbuk-do, and is in the center of the country.

[edit]It is on the southeast slope of the Sobaek Mountains, the mainstream of the Nakdong River penetrates the eastern region and is rich in mountains, water, and natural resources. Sangju City is a city in western Gyeongsangbuk-do. In the early Joseon Dynasty, it served as the head of Gyeongsang-do as the location of Gyeongsanggamyeong, and it is a historic city that became the etymology of Gyeongsang-do along with Gyeongju-si.
The agricultural products are dried persimmons, silk, and rice, and are famous for the city of bicycles. City Hall is located in Namseong-dong, and the administrative district is 1 eup, 17 myeon, and 6 dong.

[edit]The annual average temperature is around 12~13℃, and the average temperature in January and August in the hardest month is around 3℃ and 26℃, and the winter temperature decreases as you go to the northwestern mountainous areas. Annual rainfall is around 1,050 mm, which is somewhat higher than that of most of the inland areas in the Nakdong River basin. The average number of sunny days in the past 10 years has reached an average of 156 days per year, and has good conditions for growing crops such as wide plains, moderate rainfall, high temperatures in summer, and lots of sunlight.

- Janggak Falls, Sangdori, Hwabuk-myeon (Jungbu Expressway SeoCheongju I.C.→Boeun→National Road 25 to Sangju→Hwaseo-myeon, Sangju→Local Road 49→Geosan direction→Galyeong→Janggak Falls), ☏ 52 54-533-1300. Year-round. A stream starting from Cheonhwangbong Peak, the highest peak of Songnisan Mountain, winds through the Janggak-dong Valley. There is a waterfall that falls along a 6-meter-high cliff, and this is Janggak Falls. Geumranjeong Pavilion is erected on the rock formations above the waterfall, and there is an old pine forest around it, which further enhances the beauty. Stroller rental status impossible.

It is the only bicycle museum in Korea. The bicycle exhibition hall, "The Meeting Place," features some 60 bicycles showing the history. - 4 Nagak Mountain (나각산), Gujam-ri, Nakdong-myeon. It is located on the eastern side of the Taebaek Mountains. The name of the mountain is known as one of Uljin's representative sea-level terrains.
- 5 Namjangsa (남장사), 259-22 Namjang 1-gil, ☏ 82 054-534-6331. It is one of the eight scenic spots in North Gyeongsang Province (八景). It was built in 1186 (the 16th year of King Myeongjong's reign) by King 覺圓 of 尙 in the Goryeo Dynasty and named it Namjangsa Temple.

- 7 Myeongju Museum (명주박물관), 207, Kyochon-ri, Hamchang-eup, ☏ 82 054-541-9260. It displays the manufacturing process and history of silk, as well as various traditional clothing and textile crafts using silk fabrics. Free.
- 8 Sangju Hyanggyo Daesungjeon (상주향교 대성전), 111, Sinbong 2-gil, ☏ 82 054-535-0451. It was built in the 8th year of King Sejong's reign (1426) and then rebuilt in the 11th year of King Gwanghaegun (1619) due to the Imjin War (1592). The area around Namsan Middle School was originally the area of Hyanggyo, but some of it has been used as a school since 1949.
- 9 Maeak Mountain (매악산), Maeho-ri, Sabeolguk-myeon. The mountain's elevation is about 614m above sea level and its slope is gentle, making it relatively easy to climb. The Sangju Hyanggyo is located in the middle of the mountain, which is connected to the Sangju's cultural and historical heritage.
- 10 Gyeonhwonsanseong Fortress (견훤산성), Mountain 42, Jangam-ri, Hwabuk-myeon, ☏ 82 054-533-2001. On December 19, 1984, it was designated as Gyeongsangbuk-do Monument No. 53. It is said that the name became Gyeonhwon Fortress because Gyeonhwon used it as a base when he moved to Dong to defend and attack Silla and Goryeo.

- 13 the Royal Tomb of the Jeonsabeol (전사벌왕릉), Mt. 45 Hwadal-ri, Sabeolguk-myeon, ☏ 82 054-537-7211. It was designated as a monument in North Gyeongsang Province on Dec. 29, 1977. This tomb is passed down to the royal tomb of the Sabeolguk.
- 14 Sangju Yangjindang (상주 양진당), 27-4 Yangjindang-gil, Nakdong-myeon, ☏ 82 054-532-5220. It was designated as Korea's Treasure No. 1568 on July 10, 2008. This building, which belongs to the so-called high-rise residence, shows the diversity of residential types during the Joseon Dynasty in that the floor of the building was placed more than 1 meter above the ground and spheres, which are rare in high-rise residences, were installed.
- 15 Okdongseowon (옥동서원), 29, Subong 2-gil, Modong-myeon. On November 10, 2015, it was promoted and designated as Korea's Historic Site No. 532. In addition to the main buildings such as shrines and auditoriums, there are the Jeonsa Office, where offerings are prepared, and the Gosa, Hwajiksa, and Myojiksa, where the seowon managers reside.
- 16 Sangju Gonggumji (상주공검지), 199-112 Yangjeong-ri, Gonggeom-myeon. In recognition of its historical and cultural value, it is designated as Historic Site No. 111, and is protected as an important local site.
- 17 Otae Reservoir (오태저수지), Otae-ri, Gonggeom-myeon. It contributes to the development of local agriculture through the stable supply of agricultural water, while at the same time serving as a multi-purpose space for residents to enjoy leisure and relaxation. It supplies agricultural water.
- 18 Ungee Mountain (웅이산), Yeongori, Gongseong-myeon. It is a low mountain about 311 m above sea level. Its natural environment is well-preserved, so visitors can observe various plants and animals.
- 19 Baekhwa Mountain (백화산), Subong-ri, Modong-myeon, ☏ 82 041-746-6156. At around 933 m above sea level, it is mainly located in inland areas of North Gyeongsang Province. The name Baehwa Mountain is known to have been given because the stones near the top of the mountain are white. The mountain has excellent natural scenery with its lush forests and strange rocks, just like other mountains on the Korean Peninsula.

Baekdudaegan is one of the stems of the Sobaeksan Range, which rises to the granite mountain range of Jurassic. Near the top are Naongbawi Rock, Baekgilbawi Rock, and Sirubong Peak. You can see Baekdudaegan, Nakdonggang River and Sangju Plain, which bend from Deogyusan to Sobaeksan.

A 15-meter-high waterfall created by a mountain stream originating from the Sinseondae of Songnisan Mountain falls in five or seven tiers between cliffs. Water flowing between natural forests and rocks does not dry out even in drought.
- 22 Moonjangdae (문장대), Jangam-ri, Hwabuk-myeon. It is 1,054 meters high. It is also called Unjangdae because a large rock rises high in the sky and forms a superb view as if it were in contact with white clouds. There is an empty space on the mountain floor where about 50 people can sit, and you can enjoy the superb view of Songnisan at a glance.
- 23 Myowbong (묘봉), Unheung-ri, Hwabuk-myeon. It is a mountain that boasts an altitude of about 922 meters above sea level. Myobong is part of the Wolaksan National Park, and it has a unique natural scenery with its rugged mountains and many strange rocks. The name 'Myobong' is said to have originated from the shape of the mountain's ridges that look as sleek as a cat.
