Hi, I am Larry Pieniazek, I like LEGO and I am not notable. I edit more on the English Wikipedia than anywhere else, so for best results either mail me, or leave me a message on my talk page there: w:User_talk:Lar... thanks!

Sysop

[edit]

Hi, Lar,

You now have sysop rights. If you could put your name and any languages you speak on WS:ADMINS, that'd be great. Thanks!—Zhaladshar (Talk) 04:40, 19 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, and done. :) Lar: t/c 11:25, 19 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

This IP address

[edit]

Hi, thanks for blocking this IP on meta. Someone was running a PHProxy 0.5 script on the server, and causing it to block legitimate users from editing. That individual is no longer employed by the ISP.

He's got the IP blocked on en.wiki, en.wikiquote/books/versity and meta. Please unblock this IP in good faith on meta. Now the open proxy hole is closed.

It should be safe to unblock the IP now. I don't actually work for the ISP, but my friend who does work for them told me this, so at least I've got a source. --84.45.219.185 12:55, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm confused. It looks to me like [1] Herby's the blocking admin. Lar: t/c 19:35, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

blocked User:DrussBot

[edit]
Lar, something strange is up here; I blocked User:DrussBot for a week as "unapproved" due to this, but after looking into it further :- I find it extremely unlikely that a WP admin has returned to run a few unapproved bot contribs here, so I am guessing the block should be extended to indefinite. John Vandenberg 14:24, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Sounds right to me. We may need a steward to do some CU work for us, I have CU on en but not here... Let me dig a bit more. The block seems sound for now, and it can be extended if need be. Lar: t/c 19:33, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Heh

Always good to see a friendly face. :) EVula // talk // 05:27, 10 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Eh? "friendly"?? I think you have me confused with someone else! Lar: t/c 12:47, 10 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Message for Lar

[edit]

Please can you ask Herbythyme to unblock this IP on Meta. The offending user's account has been deleted from the system, and there won't be any more spambot/vandal accounts now this has happened.

If the IP is blocked anywhere else, please can you get it unblocked?? I am really sorry about what the offending user did last year, but either way... it's resolved now. Ta, --84.45.219.185 14:21, 23 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • Yes, there was an action item. Please can you unblock my IP on Meta-Wikimedia for me so I can create an account?? --84.45219LS 14:21, 4 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
    • There has been a lot of trouble with that IP, I'm not sure that's a good idea. I'm willing to create an account for you and set the PW to something you specify... email me with the desired account name and pw and I'll reply here when it's created for you. Lar: t/c 18:10, 4 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Message sent!! --84.45219LS 10:06, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

You forgot to include the desired pw... I need that. Or I can set the email to the account you emailed me from and you can get a new one that way. One or the other. Lar: t/c 12:48, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Done. Lar: t/c 14:39, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • If you set the email I can just email myself a new password. Hopefully that should do the trick. I'm enjoying it here on Wikisource... and as for the IP having trouble, it's being resolved at our end... Wikipedia's been blocked for the last 2 months but the block will be lifted in 3 weeks time. Meta's not blocked, however, but it's no longer as popular as it once was. --84.45219LS 13:33, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello

[edit]

Hello. You may be pleased to know that I'm here for legitimate purposes (unlike a certain user). I'll have a look see what this project's about, it could well be a good thing here! Thanks, AP aka --82.42.237.84 18:49, 22 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Interwiki confusion

[edit]

So, usually I'm pretty self-sufficient with interwiki tracking, even when it's in a different language. But I'm rather perplexed by the situation on The Emperor's New Clothes. There are two French interwikis (which are repeated across other projects, such as Danish and Russian). The French project lists both Les Habits Neufs du Grand-Duc and Les Habits neufs de l’Empereur as alternate translations; complicating things further, the second (l’Empereur) appears to be up for deletion.

What's the policy on this sort of thing? I couldn't find anything on interwikis, and while I'd like to get more active around here, I don't want to screw anything up. :) EVula // talk // 05:08, 14 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm not really sure. I'd ask at the Scriptorium, or ask Jayvdb... sorry I'm not more help. Lar: t/c 09:54, 14 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I saw the question earlier :-)
And hot of the press is Help:Interlanguage links
In the case of the Danish work Keiserens nye Klæder, there are a few translations and the French project has two. The second French translation is up for deletion because the translator is not known, which means they could be a copyvio and they have poor provenance, so they will likely be deleted without anyone bothering to investigate. John Vandenberg (chat) 11:36, 14 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ah, thank you for the link. I've added it to my even-hotter-off-the-press reference page. Considering the greatly diminished use of interwiki bots on Wikisource, it looks like I've found an excellent place to start using my considerable interwiki skills. ;)
Shame about the to-be-deleted French translation; I ran across another item that was up for deletion, but it was the only one available. Bummer. EVula // talk // 16:53, 14 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

User:Jon Awbrey

[edit]

You may want to watchlist this page - it may need protecting to prevent a reversion, as this user has been doing cross-wiki. Thanks. – Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 22:22, 10 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for supporting me for adminship. :) I'll try to make you glad you did it. So here's a belated Nadezhda "Harry S. Truman" Durova campaign song. All the best, Durova (talk) 05:43, 28 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
