Yahya Black (born April 21, 2002) is an American football defensive tackle for the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Early life and high school
[edit]Black attended high school at Marshall located in Marshall, Minnesota. Coming out of high school, Black was rated as a three star recruit, where he decided to commit to play college football for the Iowa Hawkeyes.[1][2]
College career
[edit]During Black's first collegiate season, he notched three tackles with half a tackle being for a loss.[3][4] In week four of the 2021 season, Black forced a fumble as he helped the Hawkeyes to a win over Colorado State.[5] In the 2021 season, Black totaled 18 tackles, two pass deflection, and a forced fumble.[6][7] Black finished the 2022 season, recording 11 tackles with one and a half being for a loss, a sack, and two pass deflections.[8] In week seven of the 2023 season, Black notched four tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, and a safety, in a win over Wisconsin.[9] During the 2023 season, Black started all 14 games for the Hawkeyes where he tallied 51 tackles with five being for a loss, three and a half sacks, and five pass deflections.[10][11]
