More objections to "Anti-Polonism" at Category vfd
[edit]See Wikipedia:Categories for deletion#Category:Anti-Polonism for vote and the following opening reasoning IZAK 7 July 2005 15:56 (UTC) :
"See related present vote to delete the Anti-Polonism article at Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Anti-Polonism for full reasoning why this redundant category should not have been created in the first place. IZAK 5 July 2005 09:08 (UTC) Additional information why this should be deleted: This category seems to assume, for example, that Poland was different to other countries invaded by Nazi Germany. The fact is, Germany invaded and occupied most countries in Europe (and North Africa) yet it was not because of "Anti-Frenchism", or "Anti-Danishism" or "Anti-Greekism" etc etc etc, rather, these were all acts of war, and Poland was no different as far as the Poles were concerned. In the case of the Jews it's a different story since Hitler wanted to carry out his "final solution" against them as Jews and not as Poles, or Frenchmen, Danes, or Greeks etc etc etc, thus to have Category:Holocaust as a sub-category of a pseudo-category such as this is both a fallacy of logic and revisionism and distortion of history. Furthermore a close look at the articles in this category reveals that basically 50% of them are Nazi-related articles and 50% are Communist-era related making it very clear that whoever placed them into this category wants to make the Poles appear as poor "victims" and to whitewash Polish co-operation with both its German and Russian occupiers, no different to countries such as Hungary, Romania, Italy, Vichy France, Norway, and others that basically accepted the German occupation and have historically never classed themselves as "victims" of "Anti-Polinism", or "Anti-Hungarianism", or "Anti-Frenchism" etc etc etc. Similarly, when Poland once ruled Lithuania and large chunks of Russia and Ukraine it was also not guilty of "Anti-Russianism" or "Anti-Lithuanism" because all this was considered part of the normal ebb and tide of history with its usual wars and subsequent times of peace. This category should be deleted because it is an insult to human intelligence. IZAK 6 July 2005 04:58 (UTC)"
- So, murdering roughly 6 million Poles (including the majority of Poland's educated classes) is simply an act of war? Strange reasoning and I'm quite surprised that you say that, since such a definition of war was used by Nazis themselves. Divide and impera, wage war by murdering millions of people like sheep - it will still be an act of war. Fortunately for the world and all of mankind, all post-war conventions defined war differently.
- As to the rest of your arguments - I don't really know what you mean. Whitewash whom? And how? And what for? There were Polish victims of anti-Polish policies and Polish victims of hatred towards Poles as such. If so, then what's wrong with mentioning that? And what should these victims be whitewashed of? And, lastly, what do your remarks have to do with this article? Halibutt July 7, 2005 16:33 (UTC)
- Halib: Do your 6 million include the Jews? If so, how is that "anti-Polonism"? because Hitler killed any and all Jews all over Europe. Poland did not suffer less than Russia, yet you don't hear the Russians whining and making up words like "anti-Russianism" or whatever. IZAK 06:57, 17 July 2005 (UTC)
- The term is Russophobia, although it's an entirely different concept (according to the WP article, in fact, it largely describes an apparently widespread Polish hatred for Russia/ns), and never uses Nazi aggression against Russia as a rationale for identifying its existence as a phenomenon. This comment was added to the front side of this page on September 16, 2005, long after the vote had closed, and so I've moved it here.--Pharos 13:05, 16 September 2005 (UTC)
- Strong delete This article is filled with lies and pov's. Especially the Antipolonism-in.Germany-section is completely wrong. Even if Molobo and all the other crazy guys do not want to realize that, it is a fact, that 1st Erika Steinbach is NOT an importand politician in Germany, and 2nd that Harald Schmidt did not get the Grimme-Award for making anti-polish jokes, and 3rd german Courts do not generally forbid polish parents to talk to their Children in Polish. The exception they refer to was a polish father who was an alcoholic. This guy used physical and psychial violence against his wife and his children, and therefor he is just allowed to see his children while he is supervized by the german youth authorities. If I did the same thing in England, the USA or any other country in the world, I would not be allowed to talk to my children in German, too (of course, I have serious doubts, that I would be allowed to see my kids!).
By the way, when you look at this discussion, you'll realize that those, who vote for keeping this page without changes, are mainly Poles (maybe nationalistic, as Molobo?)
Best greetings, Micha.
