Thought we knew everything we possibly could about The Catch? Turns out there's no definitive answer to the question of how far away Willie Mays was from home plate when he made the catch. If anyone wants to do an analysis, please let the WikiProject know from where we can cite your work!

A discussion on what players to include on the seasonal MLB draft pages was started; the criteria for inclusion is unclear. More feedback is welcome.

For a few seasons, Major League Baseball selected All-Star teams who participated in two exhibition games in a season, in order to increase the collected proceeds which were placed in the players' pension fund. A discussion was re-started on which would be better to include in a player's infobox: the total number of years in which the player was selected to an All-Star team, or the number of games in which the player was part of the roster. Please weigh in with your reasoned argument on what is most suitable.

Showcase

[edit]

Spring training is in full swing, with major and minor league teams preparing for the start of their seasons. Whereas in the past most action was located in Florida, now half of Major League Baseball's teams train in Arizona. The atmosphere is considerably more relaxed, with players running wind sprints in the outfield during play and actors and singers making on-field appearances. However for those trying to survive the final cut to the MLB roster, it's an unnerving time, with a lot of anxious moments.

The article was last assessed in 2006 as being start class; it's definitely beyond that now. Perhaps you'd like to re-assess the article and help it attain mid-season form?

Updates

[edit]

With the new season starting up soon, it would be helpful if editors could participate in updating the List of Major League Baseball Players and the team all-time roster pages so that they could be up to date as of the end of the 2014 season.
