Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/G.-M. Cupertino/Workshop

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a page for working on Arbitration decisions. The Arbitrators, parties to the case, and other editors may draft proposals and post them to this page for review and comments. Proposals may include proposed general principles, findings of fact, remedies, and enforcement provisions—the same format as is used in Arbitration Committee decisions. The bottom of the page may be used for overall analysis of the /Evidence and for general discussion of the case.

Any user may edit this workshop page. Please sign all suggestions and comments. Arbitrators will place proposed items they believe should be part of the final decision on the /Proposed decision page, which only Arbitrators and clerks may edit, for voting, clarification as well as implementation purposes.

Proposed principles

[edit]

Abusive Sockpuppetry

[edit]

1) Use of sockpuppet accounts for the purpose of deception in Wikipedia's consensus-based processes, to avoid scrutiny of misconduct, or block evasion violates the sockpuppetry policy, and may result in severe sanctions.

Civility and no personal attacks

[edit]

2) Wikipedia:Civility and Wikipedia:No personal attacks remain important policies, obvious, serious, and repeated violations of which may serve as cause for the imposition of sanctions by the Arbitration Committee. Since civility paroles enforceable by any administrator will cause wheel wars when imposed against popular users, such paroles are not enacted in this context. (This does not imply an exemption from the civility and no personal attacks policies themselves, as such users may still be banned outright by the Arbitration Committee.) However, when it is reasonably believed that administrators would probably be unwilling to unblock a user correctly blocked for violations, civility paroles remain a viable remedy.

G.-M. Cupertino

[edit]

1) G.-M. Cupertino (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) has engaged in extensive and serious incivility, has operated abusive sockpuppet accounts for a protracted period of time, and has employed a sockpuppet account for the purpose of block evasion.

I support a ban. Going with longer ban of one year. FloNight♥♥♥ 14:08, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

G.-M. Cupertino restricted to one account

[edit]

3) Upon the expiration of his ban, G.-M. Cupertino (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) is restricted to one account indefinitely.

Comment by Arbitrators:
Agree. Bans are for a person, not an account. Supporting a similar idea in the Proposed decision. FloNight♥♥♥ 14:05, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
