[edit]Name of horror film
[edit]There was a horror film I saw on French TV (M6 I think) and I was wondering what its name is. From what I remember, the movie (or at least the end) takes places in a hospital where a woman is trapped. She and a man escape from zombie/undead creatures, while her sister is killed by an undead creature that thinks it is a doctor. In some tunnel the man is killed in a fight with an undead creature and the film ends rather surreastically with the woman resting in a subway tunnel or something like that. I think it was American but I'm not sure.
- Sounds slightly light Resident Evil (film). At least, the settings, and the end almost sounds like that, if you exclude the very last scene. --Wirbelwindヴィルヴェルヴィント (talk) 19:07, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
Best drummer in the world
[edit]okay... this question probably impossible to answer but I want to do a project on the best drummer in the world (drummer meaning, drumset player, like Neil Peart) I was wondering if you guys had anything about that, I looked it up but none of it seems to fit into what I mean.
- The reason why there's nothing here about it is because it's a matter of opinion. There is no consensus on who is the best drummer in the world. Why don't you have a think about who is your favourite drummer, and why? That would be a good start for your project. --Richardrj talk email 04:38, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- If you are looking for an objective measure, you might be interested in the worlds fastest drummers. You could make your own decision based on the answers provided here or here. Or you could simply take Ron Simon at his word. Rockpocket 07:27, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- Except that, as with the guitar, "fastest" in no way equates to "best". --Richardrj talk email 07:37, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

Gene Krupa. Jk31213 18:52, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
- Gene Krupa was a great drummer, but he wasn't a great drummer. Anchoress 17:57, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
Though maybe not the best, if I had to do a project on a drummer, I would probably do one of four: John "Animal" Bonham, Keith Moon, Tommy Lee, or Charlie Watts, just because of them being inspirational people with extraordinary lives who would be good to do projects on. I'd flip a coin between Moon and Bonham if it's talent you want. Just a thought. к1иgf1$н£я5ω1fт 19:05, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
I would say the finest drummers that I have heard are the following (might be a little rock/metal biased):
Neil Peart, Mike Portnoy , Danny Carey, Buddy Rich, Keith Moon, John Bonham, Dominic Howard, Gavin Harrison, Bobby Jarzombek Matt714 03:19, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
- Forget John Bonham, what about the other Animal! Of course, when talking about the world's greatest drummers, special mention must go to Richard Starkney. As one colleague allegedly remarked, when asked if Mr Starkney was the best drummer in the world, "He's not even the best drummer in the Beatles!". Confusing Manifestation 03:49, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
- Starkey, ya poseur. —Tamfang 04:40, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
- Jazz drummers anyone? Buddy Rich for instance...
Batarang
[edit]Could Batman's famous batarang actually act like a real boomerang in real life? If it could, would it be as effective as shown in the comics and movies? bibliomaniac15 04:29, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- Most likely no, except from this and this. --Brand спойт 10:24, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
Lost Season 3
[edit]Is there any website where I could find (extremely) detailed summaries of each of the episodes in Lost season 3?Zain Ebrahim 12:25, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- Television Without Pity has detailed recaps. Natgoo 11:55, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- Or there is Lostpedia. --Richardrj talk email 12:00, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, guys. Both are excellent.Zain Ebrahim 12:25, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
Be careful with Lostpedia. They're excellent, but the articles for old episodes sometimes contain spoilers from the newest ones. Down M. 23:43, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
VMA 2003
[edit]Who was the closing act at the VMA in 2003? Was it Metallica? If yes, then what track did they perform? Thanks Hasanclk 15:08, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- From this (it's near the bottom of the article) it was indeed Metallica, and they performed a "medley of covers," including one of "Beat it." Carom 15:23, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry mate. Could have gone to the MTV site myself. Thanks for that. Appreciated.
- Now I'd like to know what those covers were, because I've got the riff of one of those stuck in my head, and I've no idea what the track is, or who the track belongs to. Can you help?
Thanks again. Hasanclk 17:52, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- It's possible that you are thinking of the riff from Seven Nation Army, which was, according to this (last paragraph) one of the covers they performed. Can't find a complete listing, although the article suggests they also covered Lenny Kravitz. Carom 17:58, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- They did Seven Nation Army, as well as Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana. It's the other couple of covers I want to know about.
Hasanclk 18:11, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
They opened with "Are You Gonna Go My Way" by Lenny Kravitz, then ""Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana, then "Seven Nation Army" by the White Stripes, then finished with "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson, and threw in a couple of "Enter Sandman" riffs at the end. But that's just my impression -- watch it for yourself. --ByeByeBaby 17:04, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
- Awesome! Thanks! Hasanclk 10:57, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
Biographical connection regarding Alan Alda and Stephanie D'Abruzzo
[edit]I have heard, in passing, that Alan Alda (born Alphonso D'Abruzzo) might be related in some way to Avenue Q star Stephanie D'Abruzzo. I can't find any source on this statement, but I was wanting to know if anyone can completely confirm or deny it. Thanks in advance. ~ PHDrillSergeant...§ 18:00, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
Skoda Cake!
[edit]Does anyone know what happened to the cake made in the new UK Skoda advert? MHDIV ɪŋglɪʃnɜː(r)d(Suggestion?|wanna chat?) 22:13, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- What, you might be wondering, happened to the car after the ad was filmed? Skoda's original plan was to cut it up and distribute it to local charities, schools and hospitals, but that had to be abandoned when it was realised that, after several days under hot studio lights, eating it would have posed a health and safety risk.
- Some parts - for example the marzipan door mirrors and the chocolate speedometer - were saved. The rest was composted, and will be used by residents of Clapton in east London to fertilise their gardens and allotments. Sauce
- Oh, and there's a 'baking of' documentary here, if you have sound and video. Select 'baking of' to see it. Skittle 13:43, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
Boards of Canada
[edit]If I like them, who else would I like that I haven't heard of yet? NoClutter 22:55, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- Mogwai, certain Brian Eno albums, Kick Bong, M83, Michael Land, perhaps Massive Attack, Royksopp, Younger Brother. Try having a listen to Mogwai - Happy Songs for Happy People. Down M. 23:34, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- I would say that Boards of Canada are intelligent dance music, so have a look at our article on that for some more names. Then, when you've done that, go to this fun webpage, type in "Boards of Canada" and get a bunch of other band names that people who like BoC also like. --Richardrj talk email 07:28, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
