Thank you for your answer but I need to ask that to be sure about it, ALSF is the equivalent of HIALS and ALSF-II is the equivalent of HIALS-II? Am I right about that? – pilot162 Commented Jan 31, 2023 at 17:40

In the US I haven't seen a reference to "HAILS-II" so I am not sure. The FAA breaks approach lighting systems in "High Intensity Approach Lighting Systems" and "Medium Intensity Approach Lighting Systems." ALSF-2, ALSF-1, SSALR, SALS and SALSR are all considered "High Intensity" systems. MALS, MALSF, MALSR, SSALS, and SSALF are all medium intensity. – Max R Commented Jan 31, 2023 at 18:05

The ICAO system in Europe is trying to copy from the US FAA, but unfortunately many things are missing. Thank you very much for your answers. – pilot162 Commented Jan 31, 2023 at 18:16
Well Jeppesen is a reliable aviation source, it is an authoritative publisher of aeronatical charts, such as a terminal area chart (TAC) and approach plate which would contain such information. This print-out [9] someone apparently created in 2023 with Jeppesen charts of Cairo International (CAI/HECA) indicates HIALS lighting on the approach charts. -- 64.229.88.34 (talk) 01:47, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

===VRT-permissions===

Users in this group are a subset of Volunteer Response Team agents. These particular users have access to the permissions queues within VRTS and assist with copyright verifications. All users with permissions access will be in the global group.

Users are in this group for identification purposes and there are no special rights associated with it. Users who add or modify VRTS permissions templates without the vrt-permissions flag have their edits disallowed via edit filter 642.

===User right (global)=== All editors with access to the VRT permissions and/or photosubmission queue are given the global VRT permissions agent user right. The user right itself includes only the permission to read pages (held by every IP and user account), access to the VRT wiki, and the ability to enable two-factor authentication. The user right exists for an edit filter which prevents non-VRT members from adding or removing VRT permission templates.

Semi-palindrome

Not mentioned at target. Anadrome mentions "semi-palindrome" as an "explanation" for the "semordnilap" entry, though that's not exactly helpful. As far as I understand, "anadrome" refers to single-word "semordnilaps" (or "semi-palindromes"), although the very first sentence of that article is tagged with {{cn}}. 1234qwer1234qwer4 03:49, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment - Google informs me that both semi- and half-palindromes refer to a word or phrase that, when spelled backwards, results in a DIFFERENT but valid word or phrase in the same language... with anadromes not really being the same thing. By this definition, semi/half-palindromes seem like a pretty cool concept, and one that might even be worthy of an article or subsection within the palindrome article... except that google ALSO informs me the semi-palindromes refer to a word in which only PART of the word is a palindrome, with another part having to be excluded to make the palindrome work... "semordnilaps" (with the s on the end) would be an example thereof, since the final "s" must be excluded to make the anadrome work. This would ALSO be a worthy mention in the palindrome article... if we could find a good solid WP:RS to cite it. All the sources I just found are insufficiently reliable, and of course, are divided between which definition they use. Fieari (talk) 07:29, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I came back to this, trying to find a reliable source, and basically just ended up finding enough attestations of the word in both definitions (and one more definition besides!) to be able to add it to wiktionary: wikt:semi-palindrome. It might actually just be best to crosswiki to this wiktionary definition instead, since there seems to be no overall consensus of what a semi-palindrome is that we could add to the palindrome article. Delete, not mentioned at target, likely don't have any reliable sources about them. If anyone can find reliable sources and put them in the palindrome article, then keep - but until then this redirect creates the impression that "semipalindromes" are something wikipedia documents, which we don't. Clippterton island has no cities. It is an uninhabited island. The linked section has no list of settlements. Delete. -1ctinus📝🗨 17:39, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for tagging me - I agree the topic itself doesn't exist, but to briefly explain my rationale behind creating it, there is an Template:Oceania topic "List of Cities in Oceania" which automatically populates itself with a redlink to 'List of Cities in Clipperton Island'. I wanted a way to avoid this redlink automatically appearing on dozens of pages in the template, and because I know very little about editing templates I didn't know how to exclude Clipperton Island from the list. Instead I created the redirect to the closest extant topic I could find. I'd note that Clipperton Island was formerly inhabited, and the section of the Clipperton Island page dealing with the history of these various settlements seems to be like the most helpful topic to redirect someone to if they were looking for this information (perhaps I should have linked to a different section of the page to achieve this). I'm happy if the decision is to delete the page but would request someone who knows more about templates finds a way to exclude Clipperton Island from the 'List of Cities in Oceania' template. GeorgmentO (talk) 23:05, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I could not figure out myself. Delete if we can figure it out. I've asked at Template talk:Oceania topic#Avoiding entries in derived templates. Jay 💬 18:13, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - Useful redirect, per Georgmen0 above. I think modifying said template would be significantly more work and effort than just keeping this template in place, and it does point to the nearest concept... and would explain the lack of cities to anyone clicking on the link. Fieari (talk) 07:19, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Clipperton Island#Politics and government does not explain the lack of cities. The section doesn't even imply that the island is uninhabited... -- Tavix (talk) 22:13, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Strong delete. Not mentioned at the target, and there's no apparent reason why it would redirect here. Just because Tolkien used the word in a letter once to describe himself doesn't mean that this should redirect to a book that has a character whose name is an alternate version of the word. This violates WP:PLA and inhibits searching within Wikipedia, as we see dozens (maybe hundreds) of other articles where the term is used, none of which should be redirected to either. 35.139.154.158 (talk) 16:56, 10 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Misleading redirect if the intent is to refer to a game in the The Legend of Zelda series with "X" referring to a letter wild card (for this target, the respective acronyms would be "OoA" and "OoS"): This redirect could also refer to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which is "OoT". Steel1943 (talk) 15:53, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

results gave me... birbs and madness combat. delete cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 15:58, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Keep, possibly with a hatnote. My results are a roughly equal mix of Zelda (with the term used to refer to the two titles collectively), World of Warcraft ("OOX refers to a series of mechanical chickens created by Oglethorpe Obnoticus" which might as well be written in Greek for all it means to me) and random non-notable stuff. List of airports in Ukraine#Military bases tells me OOX is the IATA code for Melitopol Air Base but that isn't mentioned in the article. I can't find any mention of the WoW meaning on Wikipedia (but someone who understands the game should check that) but the collective term for the Zelda games should be. A hatnote to the air base (and WoW if mentioned) would seem to be useful but I'm not going to lose any sleep if others disagree with that. Thryduulf (talk) 18:13, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So ... an ambiguous redirect with no connection to either subject at its current target should ... remain with a hatnote placed at the current target? Seems nonsensical. What would make more sense would be to create a disambiguation page and deregulate the current target to a "See also" section. (I'm still in the "delete" camp, but "disambiguate" makes more sense than "keep and hatnote" here since the "keep" part just doesn't make sense.) And I'm just itching to cite WP:PANDORA and claim this opens the door for other wildcard redirects ... maybe XBC (I know there's already an article there) for ABC, NBC, etc? • @Steel1943: an ambiguous redirect with no connection to either subject at its current target the redirect refers collectively to both of the games the target article is about. That's very much not "no connection to either subject". When something is ambiguous between one notable and multiple non-notable things, or where only one of the things is mentioned on Wikipedia, then redirecting to the only place we have relevant content is normal and more helpful to readers than deletion. Here the term refers to exactly three notable things, one of which is very clearly not the primary topic (the airbase) and two things which could be primary (Zelda and WoW). However we only have content about one of the latter two (Zelda) so we should redirect there. I don't object to a dab page, but Zelda would be a full entry not a see also. Thryduulf (talk) 10:52, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
even if wikipedia had those wild cards for disambiguating (like xrt and eox being dabs for the first two five pokémon mystery dungeon games), this redirect could refer to 3 games in a single franchise, with a disambiguator that isn't even popularly used to refer to any of them in the first place. this redirect would require leaps of logic and frivolous details bordering on gamefaqs-style fancruft to keep or dabify... for the most part, anyway. i won't argue for or against the air base cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 13:38, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Except it is commonly used to refer to the games collectively. I have no knowledge about whether the Pokemon games are referred to collectively at all/in that manner, but if they are then they should be included on the relevant dab pages. Windows 3.x is not used to refer to any operating system specifically but it is used to refer to them collectively so we have a disambiguation page. Thryduulf (talk) 17:38, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
a more thorough look into the results gave me... just as little association with tloz as before. one result among a myriad of mechanical birds and... instagram usernames probably proves that usage of this wild card is too niche for wikipedia at best cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 19:35, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Nominator vote update: super weak retarget to Melitopol Air Base. I verified "OOX" was the IATA code for Melitopol Air Base, and added the code to the article, as well as created the respective redirect OOX pointing towards Melitopol Air Base. However, I still prefer deletion since IATA codes are in all caps always. (Other than that, I believe I have already made my other relevant points in this discussion and am refraining from further participating in order to avoid performing a WP:BLUDGEON.) Steel1943 (talk) 17:57, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Never mind on all that: Seems the connection between "OOX" and Melitopol Air Base is potential WP:OR per an edit that reverted something I did. Forget that then. (Still "delete" on this redirect.) Steel1943 (talk) 20:07, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Retarget to Warcraft#Manga per commentary at #Warcraft: Legends. IznoPublic (talk) 02:50, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
...The redirect is not mentioned at Warcraft#Manga though. Looking through the page a bit, I don't see how anyone looking up this term could refer to any specific subject on that page. Steel1943 (talk) 20:16, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Unlikely misspelling; meanwhile there is PhEVER and a producer by the name of Phil Phever mentioned in a few articles. 1234qwer1234qwer4 16:34, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not mentioned at target and provides no information relevant to the title. Redirect is misleading as a result and is better left as a redlink for the time being. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:02, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The target article contains information about "Chaos emeralds" and "Master emerald" ... but nothing about a "Super emerald". Readers trying to find information about this topic will find nothing at the target. Steel1943 (talk) 00:54, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
