- The result of the discussion was procedural close. The redirect was speedily deleted by INeverCry, but the destination page was created thereafter. I'm BOLDly recreating the link, which now has a legitimate target. Since the original rationale no longer applies, I'm closing this. --BDD (talk) 20:16, 19 March 2013 (UTC) (non-admin closure)

Template:Cop

- The result of the discussion was Keep. Does no harm, and while the WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS arguements are just that, there is valid precedent here for convenience. ~ Amory (u • t • c) 16:58, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
- Template:Cop → Template:Collapsible option (links to redirect • history • stats) [ Closure: keep/delete ]
Non-sensical redirect. Who would ever think to use a "cop" as a shortcut for "collapsible option"? It seems to be shortcut for a single user to avoid a few keystrokes rather than just copying and pasting {{collapsible option}} into his creations of navbox templates. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 09:22, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
- Keep - There are several templates like this, such as Template:Tb for talkback. I used template:CO for a while, but that too got reverted. --Jax 0677 (talk) 13:11, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
- Delete Agree with nominator's rationale; seems like a self-convenience made redirect rather than a practical one. Jrcla2 (talk) 19:19, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
- Delete not about police, it should redirect to {{law enforcement}} or some other WPLE/policing template. -- 65.92.180.137 (talk) 00:58, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
- Weak keep Cop isn't "about police" either; it's a dab. Unless a WikiProject has actually expressed interest in usurping this redirect, I don't see it doing any harm, and a useful template redirect in the vein of {{pot}}, which you wouldn't see anyone proposing to retarget to {{WikiProject Cannabis}}. I only say weak keep because it's new enough that this would be the time to make a change, if we wanted to. I don't. --BDD (talk) 20:20, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
- Delete. Misleading, because "cop" has a primary meaning relating to policing, not a technical issue of display formatting. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 08:30, 24 March 2013 (UTC)
- Keep. There is no need for a template about policing at this title (it would be placed at a more formal, less ambiguous term) and this seems to fit well with the likes of {{hat}} and {{hab}}. I'm not seeing that this is doing any harm, and so no reason to delete. Thryduulf (talk) 17:46, 24 March 2013 (UTC)
- Keep Useful, convenient template redirect. WP:R#D8 doesn't really apply given this isn't an articlespace redirect, and WP:R#D2 doesn't really apply given confusion is substantially less likely to occur with users who are clueful enough to use other namespaces.
{{hat}}
isn't about headwear either. —/Mendaliv/2¢/Δ's/ 16:07, 25 March 2013 (UTC) - Delete Not a template but a redirect. I guess he got tired of typing the full name "Collapsible option". It is only used in templates created by the same editor who created this. The Banner talk 12:57, 26 March 2013 (UTC)
- Reply - ... and may be picked up by other authors who use my templates ... Besides, we have {{hat}} and {{hab}}. --Jax 0677 (talk) 01:32, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
- Comment we really shouldn't use template names for potentially encyclopedic topics for wikimaintenance. -- 65.92.180.137 (talk) 04:58, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
- Any template about police would use a name involving "police", any of the other topics on the Cop dab page would use the non-acronym name or add context. Also, we also have the {{hat}} (not about hats), {{temp}} (not about temporary workers), {{link}} (not about chains, golf courses, an American singer, etc), {{user}} (not about drug, computer or telecommunication system users), {{admin}} (not about administrators), {{ill}} (not about illness), {{top}} (not about spinning tops or clothing), {{bottom}} (not about buttocks or the seabed), {{columns}} (not about architecture), {{reliable sources}} (not about publications, {{cleanup}} (not about cleaning), {{fiction}} (not about fiction), {{copyedit}} (not about copyediting), {{tone}} (not about literature, linguistics or music), {{neutrality}} (not about international relations), and many others I can't think of off the top of my head.
