The result was keep. Valid concerns about the quality and availability of sources, but consensus to keep. Mojo Hand (talk) 14:43, 14 December 2024 (UTC)

Per WP:EVENTCRIT. The event does not have in-depth nor sustained continued coverage with none of them providing significant coverage of the event beyond a simple summary. This seems to be the best of the sources that I've found, however it doesn't provide significant coverage of the event. No lasting effects or long-term impacts on a significant region have been demonstrated as a result of the accident. Aviationwikiflight (talk) 10:25, 7 December 2024 (UTC)

- Keep. I think "the deadliest civil aviation accident in Yemen" is enough to give it "additional enduring significance" per WP:EVENTCRIT. Astaire (talk) 16:30, 7 December 2024 (UTC)
- Keep. A civil aircraft accident that killed 30 people is hardly WP:RUNOFTHEMILL. Yemen's deadliest civil aircraft accident definitely pushes it over the bar. - The Bushranger One ping only 18:18, 7 December 2024 (UTC)
- Being the deadliest aviation accident in a country is not exactly a valid rationale for keeping an article since it is not based on any notability guideline. The existence of a topic relies on there being reliable secondary sources that provide in-depth and significant coverage of the event, which this accident lacks. Aviationwikiflight (talk) 18:50, 7 December 2024 (UTC)
- Did you do any WP:BEFORE? I found two newspaper articles on a quick search through the Google archive: "Jetliner slams into lone peak" and "30 killed in jet crash". Astaire (talk) 19:54, 7 December 2024 (UTC)
- I have done a WP:BEFORE. Both of these sources are from March 1972. However, there needs to be sustained continued coverage that provide significant and in-depth coverage of the event beyond the initial aftermath of the accident. Aviationwikiflight (talk) 20:06, 7 December 2024 (UTC)
- This is not true according to WP:NTEMP:
once a topic has been the subject of "significant coverage" in accordance with the general notability guideline, it does not need to have ongoing coverage.
- The event was mentioned as recently as 2016 in the aftermath of EgyptAir Flight 804. [1] [2] [3] Astaire (talk) 21:55, 7 December 2024 (UTC)
- None of these sources provide significant coverage of the event. Aviationwikiflight (talk) 02:40, 8 December 2024 (UTC)

- Keep while I understand the rationale, I think the lack of readily online sources is more a result of it being an event in a foreign country in 1972 with few sources digitized or translated. And while there is no established cutoff, a commercial flight that resulted in 30 fatalities would generally be considered notable these days. EoRdE6(Talk) 21:01, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
- The existence of a topic on Wikipedia relies on sources being available, so the lack of readily available sources online is not exactly an excuse to keep an article. Aviationwikiflight (talk) 16:08, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
- That's an argument to avoid. The sources don't need to be available online. - The Bushranger One ping only 05:36, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
- I know that sources that have to be online, with it being possible that offline sources exist, however, I have yet to see a single offline source being presented. Aviationwikiflight (talk) 07:26, 13 December 2024 (UTC)

- Keep. maintain and expand was an event that happened and left fatal victims. 190.219.101.225 (talk) 17:34, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
- Weak Keep – Not only are there newspaper articles from the time 1 2, a Google search for EgyptAir Flight 763 in Arabic gives many articles that mention the crash (in as much detail as could reasonably be expected considering no final report was ever published).
