The result was keep. No arguments for deletion aside from the nominator. (non-admin closure) Ron Ritzman (talk) 16:09, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

per WP:NOT#NEWS this is no more notable than Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2009 Orlando shooting Misterdiscreet (talk) 17:02, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Merge and redirect to Charles J. Bishop, which is about the same thing (or merge that one to this and keep, since someone is going to probably say "bee-ell-pee-one-eee". This one is remembered regularly, including as recently as this past Monday [1], so it easily passes as "historically notable", which is no surprise. Mandsford (talk) 18:29, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- citing an article talking about how this is non-notable as evidence of its notability. rich.
- what about the car crashes mentioned in that article?
- Compare these accidents to several recent incidents involving automobiles. A Tulsa man intentionally drove his car into a crowd of people at a party, killing two. In several other cases, people intentionally drove into crowds killing several persons. In 2008 in Maryland, a car killed eight people when it veered into a crowd during an illegal street race. However, no mention was made in the media that cars are the next terror threat or were there any proclamations made by politicians with congressional hearings soon to follow.
- is there an article on the 2008 maryland incident? and what about Tyler Snyder? four years after his BLP1E incident and people still remember him (well at least participants of this afd will). should he have his own article now? Misterdiscreet (talk) 18:59, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- Do not merge or redirect to Charles J Bishop the suicidal person is non-notable, the crash is somewhat notable. 65.94.252.177 (talk) 04:54, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep, although not a terrorist attack, the article can be compared with such terrorist attacks. It is also comparable with the 2010 Austin plane crash. Notability is demonstrated by reliable sources such as the FAA. The incident had an impact on flying in the States, which further helps establish notability. Mjroots (talk) 18:52, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep: Notability has been established by reliable sources such as FAA and CNN. The investigation and effect on flying are also indications of notability. Intelligentsium 00:14, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- being mentioned in CNN did not save Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2009 Orlando shooting nor should it save this article. and an FAA citation no more makes the event notable any more than a self-published source as a source on itself Misterdiscreet (talk) 16:41, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep per WP:EVENT. Was a very high-profile event that received a lot of coverage. Dew Kane (talk) 04:00, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- This plane crash sure did cause some long lasting effects per WP:EVENT. It moved a guys desk by two feet and broke some glass! As for lots of coverage - see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2009 Orlando shooting. Being discussed in news sources as far removed as the BBC did not save that article nor should it save this. Remember WP:NOT#NEWS. An articles subject needs to do more than find itself in the media echo chamber Misterdiscreet (talk) 16:41, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep and merge Charles J Bishop into this article - notability guidelines state it is the event, not the person that should have the article if notability is from a one-off event. The crash was certainly notable - it made the news here in the UK [2] [3] and mentioned again recently here [4]. 86.133.53.54 (talk) 12:44, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep: I'm of the opinion that this event was sufficiently notable to merit coverage. Its much more significant than your typical car crash, minor celebrity run-in with the police, etc., that would be excludable under WP:NOT#NEWS.--Milowent (talk) 20:01, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep per Milowent. Racepacket (talk) 12:04, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep. This has gone beyond indiscriminate information. Charles J. Bishop should be merged into this article per WP:EVENT. Fiftytwo thirty (talk) 15:50, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
