Liam Styles Chang, was born May 30, 1990[1] in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada and was voted off of the Top 14 competitors in the fifth season of Canadian Idol[2]. He auditioned for the hit show in Vancouver, British Columbia. He is currently a student at St. Andrew's Regional High School in Victoria. Early Life[edit]
After an acoustic performance of "This Magic Moment" (the renowned 60s hit by The Drifters) during his auditions, Liam was given the gold ticket by the four Idol judges and sent into the Top 200 round of competition. Throughout this leg of the show, Liam discovered the vast amount of perseverance he possesses, an asset that attributed to his success on the show. Although, Liam believes that it was his "unconditional love of singing and music and my ability to get along with people"[4] that assisted him so far into the contest. On July 11th, 2007, Liam was eliminated from the Top 14 contestants of Canadian Idol[5], after judge Jake Gold remarked that Liam was one of the best vocalists in the competition two nights before. The Central Leatherstocking Region is located just south of the Adirondack region and outside of Cooperstown, New York. It is named after the methods of Indian torture that were rumored to have taken place in the early years of British colonization of the area. The name "Leatherstocking" comes from the Indian practice of tanning the hides of captured settlers, and using them as leggings to protect themselves from the cold New York winters. The term was brought into the public domain by James Fenimore Cooper in his "Leatherstocking Tales", wherein, the protagonist Natty Bumpo, bested the Indians at their own game, by making leggings for himself. Sources[edit]The History of the Leatherstocking Region by Paul Slazinger Jr. 69.249.49.15 00:38, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply] Decline -- this books does not appear to exist; furthermore, a number of sources state that the term for Upstate New York, 'Leatherstocking', is derived from the books, not vice versa. The nation will always remember V O Chidambaram Pillai, whose 130th birth anniversary was on September 5, 2001, principally for the pioneering role he played in building India’s swadeshi shipping industry The life of Pillai, fondly known as “VOC” to millions of countrymen, was interesting and colourful. He was a freedom fighter, (who challenged the might of the British rulers and suffered long terms of imprisonment,) VOC was born on September 5, 1872, in a family of “old-time pleaders” in Ottapidaram in the composite Tirunelveli district and presently in Tuticorin district. Drawing inspiration from Ramakrishnananda, a disciple of Swami Vivekananda, VOC resorted to swadeshi work. Following requests by local citizens, he initiated steps to break the monopoly of British shipping in the coastal trade with Ceylon.
