Vera Alice Santos Zimmermann (born March 30, 1964, in São Paulo) is a Brazilian actress known for her role in the film Ela Perdoa (1999)

Zimmermann was born to a German father and a mother from Rio Grande do Sul. She began her acting career in the early 1980s, performing in notable productions such as Eterno Retorno and Macunaíma with Nelson Rodrigues and Antunes Filho. It has been suggested that the song "Vera Gata" by Caetano Veloso may have been inspired by her.[1]

In 2015, Zimmermann joined RecordTV, to portray Princess Henutmire in the television series Os Dez Mandamentos. In 2017, she appeared as Queen Neusta in O Rico e Lázaro.

Controversy

[edit]

In 2005, Vera appeared on the cover of Época magazine with the headline "I Had an Abortion", where she discussed her decision to terminate a pregnancy at the age of 25.[2] The cover received widespread attention and was awarded the Esso prize for magazine graphic design.[3]
