Welcome

[edit]

Hello, West wikipedia, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} and your question on your user talk page, and someone will show up shortly to answer. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on talk and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! --Geniac 16:53, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your Recent Edits (John Deere, etc)

[edit]

Thanks for the comment you left on my talk page (I presume it was you - the comment was unsigned). It is good that you are learning how Wikipedia works. I am sorry if my edit reverts seemed harsh, but your actions appeared to be just like a tractor seller trying to promote his business by putting his website on loads of pages. This, of course, is not permitted on WP.

As I said before the reverts were not 'personal' - I just happened to get in first!

In future, can I strongly recommend that you always sign in. Questionable edits by anonymous users are likely to tolerated far less than by those who sign in. Secondly, please sign talk page edits with ~~~~, as this makes them easier to read.

Cheers! -- EdJogg 15:33, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WW, external links are for useful extra information, not for anonymous trivialized and incorrect amateur history pages. I assume these are yours, since otherwise there would be no reason to link them. I'll work on reverting them... Dicklyon 05:20, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I see you have also deleted previous complaints and comments on your spam links. Cut it out. Find a more productive way to engage in Wikipedia, and you'll be welcome here. Dicklyon 05:30, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You have deleted my comments here 3 times now. If you do it again I shall have to report you for violating WP:3RR. I responded to your comment on my talk page, but it is customary to keep the conversation wherever it is started (here). Dicklyon 05:46, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You are a spammer and you need to knock it off! Quit deleting relevant external links —The preceding unsigned comment was added by West wikipedia (talkcontribs) 05:48, 9 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

The WP:EL criterion is not simply that they be "relevant". Read it again. See especially the section "What should be linked to" and note that your pages do not fit. Dicklyon 05:53, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It meets the criteria... You need to stop doing this. If you think this is a violation then why dont you wait and see if any of the other millions of users do

I'm going to bed now. Hopefully I won't have to revert more tomorrow. Dicklyon 06:29, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
But one more thing first: your links to [http://www.johndeeretractors.net johndeeretractors.net] go to [http://www.communityhotline.com communityhotline.com], your other favorite site for link spamming. It doesn't matter if you own it, you clearly have some agenda with these sites that's incompatible with the wikipedia agenda. I've reverted those that I could find except the ones that are for Wisconsin local places where the site might be sensible, even though it really is still not encyclopedic. Dicklyon 06:51, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Did you sleep OK? I notice that all the links you put back have been removed by someone else. I'll back off now. Do try to understand how wikipedia works, and you'll do better. Dicklyon 17:00, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Stop your Personal Attacks in edit/reverts. Read WP:NPA

Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia. However, the links/content you added may not be a good fit for the article. If you would, please use the article's talk page to explain your rationale for adding the link. Also see the welcome page if you'd like to learn more about contributing to the encyclopedia. Thanks!

... I'll start with that right now. I think it's illogical that you call people spammers when they are reverting your links when superficially I think the links are spam too and I imagine an admin would too as they consider if they need to block you. Ttiotsw 12:13, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was being nice but I think your edits are vandalism.

[edit]

Your edit at http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Internet&diff=prev&oldid=93144373 or http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Christmas&diff=prev&oldid=93144002 (and others) are link spam and/or vandalism. You've already reverted these. Also please do not remove warnings from talk pages. I was trying to be nice with http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:West_wikipedia&diff=prev&oldid=93143281 so here is a ... Please stop. If you continue spamming you will be blocked from editing. . If you continue I will be able to log you on Wikipedia:Administrator_intervention_against_vandalism regards. Please review Wikipedia guidelines on external linking before adding more of your Early History links. Note especially the statement that external links should avoid "any site that does not provide a unique resource beyond what the article would contain once it becomes a Featured article." The links you post are generally to short articles that in some cases are rather less detailed than the articles you link from. Several of these contain factual, spelling, and grammatical errors. They do not appear to meet what is required of a useful external link. If you have any questions about the guidelines, I or any other editor would be happy to discuss them with you. - Eron Talk 14:06, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of warnings

[edit]

Please stop removing warnings from your talk page. You have been asked numerous times to leave these warnings in place and persisting in removing them may be interpreted as bad faith. -- mattb @ 2006-12-09T18:47Z

Removing messages from your talk page intended to advise you against your behavior is what I was referring to. Here are some examples: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]. You even removed this message immediately after my posting it. Deleting the warnings does NOT hide their existence; full record of them exists in this page's talk history. All you accomplish by removing them is having to see more warnings like this and making a case for bad faith editing. [6] I ask you again to stop removing these discussion from your talk page. -- mattb @ 2006-12-09T18:55Z

Removal of warnings

[edit]

This is your last warning.
The next time you vandalize a page, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. – Ian Cairns 19:25, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do not remove warnings from your page. If you wish to leave Wikipedia, then just do so. The warnings will remain. Fan-1967 23:29, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You have been temporarily blocked from editing Wikipedia because of disruptive edits. You are free to make constructive edits after the block has expired, but please note that vandalism, including page blanking or addition of random text, spam, or deliberate misinformation; privacy violations; personal attacks; and repeated and blatant violations of WP:NPOV will not be tolerated.
