Conflict of interest

[edit]

Hello, Weinplus. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may need to consider our guidance on conflicts of interest.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. ~Amatulić (talk) 22:41, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked

[edit]
Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.  You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username doesn't represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. If you prefer to be unblocked for the purpose of changing your username to a username which complies with our username policy, so that your contributions with this username are recorded as contributions of your new username and rather than creating a new account, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice instead. Thank you. ~Amatulić (talk) 22:41, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

Requested username:

Request reason:

My name is Carsten Stammen, I am a German wine journalist and would like to improve existing links from Wikipedia sites covering wine items to the glossary of Wein-Plus.eu as this website has been relaunched, so that all the glossary entries are now available in English which wasn't the case before. So I think the link adaption will be advantageous for the Wikipedia users. Your admin Tomas Eriksson (Tomas e) has considered the link changes I did so far to be constructive. I will not modify any texts of articles linking to the Wein-Plus glossary, just adapt the links already set.

Accept reason:

Before you do anything else, please go to WP:CHU/Simple and request that your username be changed.

Also, if you intend to correct hundreds of existing links that got broken due to a site upgrade, and the change to each URL path is something that can be defined by a string-replacement rule, then a bot might perform the task more easily and quickly. Wikipedia:Bot requests is the place to make such requests. ~Amatulić (talk) 11:43, 31 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Edits

[edit]

Hello, we discussed your edits over at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Wine#Possible COI. You may wish to have a look. Best regards, Tomas e (talk) 20:21, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, we only edited existing links to reflect the change of our URLs. We did not add any new links or added/edited any other content. 188.195.1.120 (talk) 14:31, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You are blocked due to your username, not because of your activity here. Usernames must represent an individual person, not an organization, group, or role. Your continued use of the word "we" in this context is disturbing, and implies that this account is accessible by more than one person, which is also prohibited on Wikipedia. ~Amatulić (talk) 15:14, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, many thanks for accepting my request for change in username and for unblocking this account. I will wait until the username has been changed before continuing my work. Thanks, too, for your recommendation to use a bot. I'm going to check this opportunity.
