Orphaned fair use image (Image:Uncutdope.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Uncutdope.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Wikimania in Atlanta!

[edit]

Hi! I noticed your involvement on U.S. South-related articles, categories and WikiProjects, and I wanted to let you know about a bid we're formulating to get next year's Wikimania held in Atlanta! If you would like to help, be sure to sign your name to the "In Atlanta" section of the Southeast team portion of the bid if you're in town, or to the "Outside Atlanta" section if you still want to help but don't live in the city or the suburbs. If you would like to contribute more, please write on my talk page, the talk page of the bid, or join us at the #wikimania-atlanta IRC chat on freenode.org. Have a great day!

P.S. While this is a template for maximum efficiency, I would appreciate a note on my talk page so I know you got the message, and what you think. This is time-sensitive, so your urgent cooperation is appreciated. :) Mike H. I did "That's hot" first! 09:35, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Fakesongs.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Fakesongs.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Courcelles 01:58, 19 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Cave Rock, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Moreover, please add more verifiable sources, not only 3rd party sources. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the article's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Toddlertoddy (talk) 03:30, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Cave Rock redirect

[edit]

RfD and hatnote If you think it should be deleted, you can take it to WP:RFD. Personally, I think it makes more sense to simply have it redirect to the more common usage and use a hatnote template at the top of the redirected article. —Justin (koavf)TCM04:41, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I edited the entry on the Nevada Historical Marker page, so Cave Rock will not link to the album of the same name. Thomsonmg2000 (talk) 15:01, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'll see what I can find on Cincinnati Bearcats football seasons. There is a list of coaches in the media guide and on Cincinnati Coaching Records CFBdatawarehouse. College football season lists

[edit]

Thomsonmg2000, thanks for all your recent work to create college football season lists. If you create more, just watch a couple things on the categories. First, you generally never want to put a given article in a category and its parent category. Second, you want to add sort keys so that the article sorts within its categories; see: Wikipedia:Categorization#Sort keys. Check out the edits I made to List of Michigan State Spartans football seasons for an example on this stuff. Thanks and keep up the great work. Jweiss11 (talk) 01:52, 23 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I wanted to thank you for making List of Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football seasons, it looks great. Disavian (talk) 01:35, 5 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the great start on the Oregon CFB season lists. I will help out here. One thing I noticed right away is the first season (1894) is really messed up -- the "official" site doesn't appear to be a good place to get game info from back then, as it's very messed up (the games weren't all played on Oct 1, Oregon didn't play OAC twice, even the order is wrong). You'd think they'd care enough to be accurate... Two good sources for historic schedules are College Football Data Warehouse http://cfbdatawarehouse.com and database-football.com http://database-football.com (the latter hasn't been updated since 2009 and may be dead soon, unfortunately). Keep up the good work. Abdoozy (talk) 22:56, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dude, quit changing my edit on the 2016 Georgia Tech page. It's quite annoying. I wrote it for a reason. Don't replace my summary please. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 23.242.79.135 (talk) 10:19, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Saturdays = Youth expansion and cleanup

[edit]

Sure, I have some other articles lined up, but I'll definitely give it a look and see what I can do sometime soon. In the meantime, if you happen to stumble upon any information regarding background, recording and such, that would be much appreciated. SnapSnap 20:02, 8 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No problems. Now that you mentioned it, it does seem kinda bloated; I'll remove the less notable reviews. On a sidenote, I don't think the spacing after the Metacritic summary is neccessary at all, as most album articles don't have such spacing, especially GAs. Another template to add to the deletion discussion

[edit]

I just thought I'd let you know that the same user also created a template called Template:Take-Back 60 Entertainment, which was another thing he'd created. The amount of spam he's throwing onto Wikipedia is pretty extensive, I have to say. Since you've already a template deletion discussion going for another one this guy has made, I didn't know if you wanted to add that one on as well. I'm trying really hard to assume good will, but considering that this appears to be a brand new company (if it's not a complete hoax) this appears to be pretty spammy. The editor clearly knows how to work Wikipedia since he or she knows how to create templates, so I'm kind of thinking the editor should also know about sources and stuff like that.Tokyogirl79 (talk) 19:09, 10 February 2012 (UTC)tokyogirl79[reply]

Help identifying BYU football coaches

[edit]

RE: Hello, I noticed that you made many edits on articles pertaining to BYU football and I was wondering if you could help me identify some of the coaches in this image. Thanks. Thomson (talk) 00:00, 19 February 2013 (UTC).[reply]

I'm from out of state so I'm not super familiar with the coaching staff, however, the one on the far left looks like Kelly Poppinga (outside linebackers), the one second from the right looks like Nick Howell (secondary/special teams), and the one third from the right looks like Paul Tidwell (inside linebackers).

I can't really say who most of them are. I pulled the coaches info from the schools website, but I can't say I'm used to saying which coach is which.
I believe the white shirts are the actual coaching staff while the blue shirts are trainers and student assistants. I can say the first one is probably Poppinga, but it could be Cahoon. My guess is that it is Nick Howell second. Doman is third. Tidwell is actually behind Doman and would be fourth in line. I think that is Jay Omer next. The far right one is Max Hall. I'm sure about Doman, Tidwell, Omer, and Hall, but I couldn't say for certain on the first two.

Bigddan11 (talk) 00:04, 20 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't matter how you adjust the image. I can only identify the coaches by other pictures in their profiles. Since I can't identify them by sight, I can't say the new picture helps me in any way, shape, form, or fashion. Your best bet would be to contact Robbie Bullough on Twitter @RobbieBullough. He was the sideline reporter for 90% of the BYU football games and could identify them the best.

Hi Thomson200, I am currently working on an article pertaining to the Washington Huskies football team, and noticed that you uploaded a photo of Keith Price, and was wondering if, from the same collection, you would be willing to do some cropping work on this photo and upload its parts, particularly of Bishop Sankey. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Blake Bortles Wikipedia Reading Club requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Replaceable fair use File:Jack Twyman.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Jack Twyman.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Magog the Ogre (tc) 23:31, 19 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Hideki Irabu.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Hideki Irabu.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

A tag has been placed on File:Hideki Irabu.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
