Good call!

Thanks for fixing the inaccurate image for Samuel Bernard... an interesting article about the old painting too! ǝɹʎℲxoɯ (contrib) 15:49, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My pleasure! I accidentally visited the page of the Ghetty Museum and found (once again) accidentally another appropriate image. -- Greetz Sir Gawain (talk) 15:35, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings. You removed the images from the above article because, as you said, "...they show the Château des Anglais in Bouziès." When I created the page I was obviously confident that I had got it right but I accept they may not be the castle in Autoire. However, despite the titles of the pictures, there is no castle with that name in Bouziès that I can find! There is a geographical feature - Defilé des Anglais - in Bouziès, so I wonder if the photographer has got his Anglais muddled when titling the photos. So it could be that these pictures are of the Château des Anglais at Brengues. Or even Autoire. Any definitive ideas? Unfortunately, I can't remember now how I deduced that the photos were of Autoire and the French Ministry of Culture database entries(Autoire and Brengues) do not include pics for either. Emeraude (talk) 18:04, 6 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! The "Château des Anglais" at Bouziès is not a castle but a defensive wall at the entrance of a cave. Please click on the following link that leads you to a map section of the French Géoportail showing the environment of Bouziès. Choose a zoom level two or three leves higher than "Ville" and you'll see the "Château des Anglais". Maybe the fact that it is not a castle but only a wall is the reason why it's not a Monument historique. A Google picture search brings up a lot of photos of the building.
The remparts of Autoire's "Château des Anglais", which was a real castle, look like this. Another photo can be found here. -- Greetz Sir Gawain (talk) 15:37, 7 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the info and links. From which we may conclude that there are three structures called Château des Anglais in the area? But that at Bouziès is not so much a castle as a defensive wall? Looking at the Bouziès stucture I'm surprised it's not on the Min of Culture inventory, but then the list is rather strange sometimes in what it includes and excludes. Horace Walpole picture

[edit]

Hi Sir Gawain. I would have dropped a message on your Commons talk page, but unfortunately I can't find my Commons password and the e-mail account I use to set up my account there is long gone. There's a small problem with the portrait of Horace Walpole (link) attributed to Van Dyck that you uploaded and which appears in the Walpole article; the portrait, while in the style of Van Dyck, is actually by John Giles Eccardt according to other sources, for example the UK's National Portait Gallery (link). I have corrected the caption in the Walpole article, but you might want to fix the Commons version attribution. FlowerpotmaN·(t) 19:27, 21 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Flowerpotman. Thank you for informing me of the wrong attribution. I've corrected the commons description page of the image. -- Greetz Sir Gawain (talk) 10:18, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No prob :). I saw the attribution on the original website and I was confused too. FlowerpotmaN·(t) 22:37, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your Questia online library codes failed to deliver

[edit]

We tried to use Wikipedia email to deliver your account access information but you either did not provide an email address in your preferences or had it set up not to receive messages from other editors. Sounds good to me. (I started the Schloss Ebenrain article.) Are you planning to start a topic on the talk page? I don't anticipate any opposition to merging. — ℜob C. alias ÀLAROB 21:27, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
