A barnstar for you!

I've seen you reverting lots of vandalism in RC. Thank you for helping clean up vandalism! 『π』BalaM314〘talk〙 14:48, 11 March 2024 (UTC) |

Rollback
[edit]Hi, I've seen you around RecentChanges, just like the user above. Thanks for your work! Anyway, I was wondering if you were interested in applying for rollback access. It would speed up RedWarn slightly, as well as give you access to some extra tools (e.g. Huggle, AntiVandal). If you like, you can make a request at WP:PERM/R; I believe you meet the criteria (experience, understanding the vandalism policy, consistently giving warnings), so you would probably get the permission smoothly. ⟲ Three Sixty! Talk? Work. 03:31, 12 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you! And thanks for your suggestion! I've had a look at Huggle before and I'd like to try it so I'll make a request over there. Shaws username . talk . 03:59, 12 March 2024 (UTC)

You are awarded a silver barnstar for combatting vandalism. It would have been gold, but I'm mad that you beat me to it a few times. ;) FPTI (talk) 09:54, 12 March 2024 (UTC) |

[edit]Thank you very much for workshopping the RfC. I'll see if I have any suggestions later, but what you have already looks good to me. Tewdar 18:57, 12 March 2024 (UTC)
- You're welcome and thanks please do let me know if you have any, or about where it should be placed. Shaws username . talk . 19:06, 12 March 2024 (UTC)
Rollback
[edit]Hi Shaws username. After reviewing your request, I have enabled rollback on your account. Please keep the following things in mind while using rollback:
- Being granted rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle or Ultraviolet. It just adds a [Rollback] button next to a page's latest live revision - that's all. It does not grant you any additional "status" on Wikipedia, nor does it change how Wikipedia policies apply to you.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear and unambiguous cases of vandalism only. Never use rollback to revert good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war, and it should never be used in a content-related dispute to restore the page to your preferred revision. If rollback is abused or used for this purpose or any other inappropriate purpose, the rights will be revoked.
- Use common sense. If you're not sure about something, ask!
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Fastily 00:04, 13 March 2024 (UTC)
A bit of help please
[edit]Hello! I have 3 little questions for you. First, I was translating an article to English and it said that I can't because I don't have permission to create an article. What do I do? Secondly, I find many projects with the Advertisement or Soapbox tag but I can't find any ad-like things about them. Am I missing something? And lastly, how did you find me?@Shaws username --[[User:Cool hat6| Cool hat6]] (talk) 15:56, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Hello! While I can't help with the third question, I can help out with the second question, but I'll need links to the article(s) in question, and the first question. For the first question, you need to be auto confirmed to create articles, which requires 10 edits and an account that is four days old. I see you already meet the edit threshold, so you will just need to wait about 2 more days to be able to create an article. Happy editing! GrayStorm(Talk|Contributions) 16:03, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
- For your seond question, sometimes people fix the issues but just forget to remove the tags, like at Abaji where more souces had been added, or Frères des Hommes where the advertising sounding material had been removed, but no one removed the one source or advertisment tags until you did.
- To answer your third question, I spent a lot of time looking at the recent changes feed and some of your edits showed up there as a newer account removing sources (I made a mistake and reverted your edit to Karongi District becuase I saw you'd removed sources, and then restored it when I realised that the sources you'd removed were from an unreliable source (sorry and thank you for taking them out)) and then I added the welcome message to your talk page.
- From what I know of creating article, GrayStorm is right about needing to be autoconfirmed to directly create articles, although I think you can create one through the Wikipedia:Articles for creation process. (If you're translating from a Wiki in another languge you might also want to read WP:TFOLWP to avoid running into any copyright issues) Shaws username . talk . 16:26, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
Response
[edit]Thanks a lot, it really gives. I do enjoy it here nearly as much as rollbacking on pl wiki, maybe even more :) Karol739 (talk) 21:24, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thats good to hear! If you haven't heard of them, you might like RedWarn or Twinkle, they help to automate the process of placing edit warnings, They give you a nice menu to pick from and you don't need to remember each of the templates as much. :) Shaws username . talk . 22:14, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks, I've discovered an option like that in SWViewer, I also use occassionally UltraViolet, as Twinkle doesn't work on my computer. Karol739 (talk) 22:18, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thats great, whichever works best for you! Shaws username . talk . 22:45, 14 March 2024 (UTC)

The more you revert that swine, the more we have to clean up, and the more satisfaction they have from their vandalism. OverlordQ, AlphaBetaGamma, you too. And the guy is probably not done yet with his BLP violations. Just leave it be, and report them to AIV immediately. Just say that it's the Kentucky/Ohio racist and woman hater. Drmies (talk) 01:26, 15 March 2024 (UTC)
- Then maybe it should have been PP'd for more than 3 days. Q T C 01:33, 15 March 2024 (UTC)

Short descs
[edit]Make sure to add birth and death years to short descriptions, and make sure they have an en dash. Thanks. -1ctinus📝🗨 17:15, 1 April 2024 (UTC)

Question on why a page isn't generating.
[edit]I am curious on why the page Director of Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security isn't generating on other pages. JoeK2033 (talk) 00:24, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not entirely sure what you mean by the page isn't generating on other pages? If you could clarify I'll to try and help but I'm not sure how helpful I'll be, I'm not great at the technical side of things (the help desk or teahouse will probably have people who'll be able to help you more but I'm happy to try) Shaws username . talk . 20:28, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
"Former" matters
[edit]Please read the lede paragraphs before adding short descriptions. In particular, there is a big difference between something described as "former" and something current and that distinction must be preserved in the short description!— Preceding unsigned comment added by Kerry Raymond (talk • contribs) 06:58, 30 April 2024 (UTC)
- WP:SDAVOID specifically advises not using time-specific adjectives (which is why I've avoided using them) That said you have have a point, describing something as a "heritage listed post office" does give the implication that that's what it still does, I'll go back and have a look at pages I've done and change them to "heritage listed site" to make it clearer, and add dates for administrative areas. Rollback issue
[edit]Hi, in this edit you have rolled back without any edit summary ten separate and rather careful drafting amendments I made to Wikipedia:Short description. It doesn’t seem from your editing history that you’d deliberately misuse rollback rights, and I imagine this was just a mistake? MichaelMaggs (talk) 09:43, 6 August 2024 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, yes it was a mistake. I think I must have accidentally clicked the button for it and not noticed. (I do quite like your amendments to it) Shaws username . talk . 10:52, 6 August 2024 (UTC)
- OK, thanks for confirming. It's an easy thing to do (have done the same myself). MichaelMaggs (talk) 10:56, 6 August 2024 (UTC)
