...to the next New York City Meetup!
New York City Meetup
|
In the morning, there are exciting plans for a behind-the-scenes guided tour of the American Museum of Natural History.
In the afternoon, we will hold a session dedicated to discussing meta:Wikimedia New York City issues (see the last meeting's minutes).
In the evening, we'll share dinner and chat at a local restaurant, and (weather permitting) hold a late-night astronomy event at Columbia's telescopes.
You can add or remove your name from the New York City Meetups invite list at Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/Invite list.

Contrails
Stop. Now. First, you're just a candidate. Second, there's no reason for you to get a copy ahead of time. Third, each version is different, so a different class's would be useless. Fourth, they're keepsakes and no grad would part with theirs.
My advice is to just shut up and keep your head down. Overeager poking around online will do you no favors. Try reading on the Rumor Mill at edodo.org if you want to get a feel for real cadet life; don't post, you'll just get smacked down for painful ignorance and people will probe for your real identity in order to run you out if & when you actually get to the Zoo.
And definitely stop stalking grads on wikipedia.

USAFA
Regarding your question about getting hold of a Contrails prior to inprocessing: The USAFA Association of Graduates often has recent copies for sale, although they sometimes restrict the sale of cadet-issue items to graduates. You'd have to contact them directly to determine if that's the case with Contrails. Given the psychological attachment or revulsion folks build to that little book, most cadets/grads I know either got rid of it at the soonest opportunity, or are planning to keep it forever and would be loath to give theirs up. If you want some general USAFA info, I'll also put in a pitch for the eDodo bulletin board. It's populated by a lot of cadets, former cadets, and grads, and often has a decent amount of info about the current goings-on at the Zoo. But be warned: The attitude on the board is fairly cynical, so you'll get the straight dope--not a lot of the glowing descriptions of the Zoo that you get from the recruiting material, or the boasting/obsessive handwringing that you see at some of the parents' group sites. Folks on eDodo can also be pretty brutal, so post with care, but if you can hang, it'll be worth it. - Tarfu92 (talk) 16:56, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Contrails
I wouldn't suggest trying to obtain a copy of contrails early, and you'll understand why once you get here. Continue your enthusiasm, and you'll get it soon enough. Good luck. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bosser 15 (talk • contribs) 05:12, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
Huh?
What exactly are dead baby jokes? And is it just me, or is your talk page messed up? Basketballone10 02:09, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
Oh, okay. The talk page, I get, but the dead babies somewhat freak me out. Basketballone10 23:31, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
