Dear Redmarkviolinist,

I was just checking the abovementioned page's history and though I misread it before, I think your edit, http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Admin_coaching/Requests_for_Coaching&diff=prev&oldid=250067709 , was a typographical error. I plan to erase that cell of User:Omarcheeseboro's entry. I hope you understand and have a wonderful day and a festive year-end. :)--Thecurran (talk) 05:12, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Frozen Pinecone

[edit]

Hi there. Yes, actually in terms of technical quality, I would say that it is good enough for FPC, although obviously DSLRs can potentially take higher quality images (although they take more skill to get the most out of). The sharpness and focus is quite good and the image is big enough to see all the details. Keep up the good work. It is hard to take images that are both high quality and encyclopaedic. :-) Diliff | (Talk) (Contribs) 23:46, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Umm, that one isn't nearly as good. It's a bit blurry (looks like motion blur as the shutter speed may have been too low or you didn't keep the camera steady enough) and the middle is out of focus. Getting the whole subject in focus will be even more of an issue with a DSLR, because they have a smaller depth of field than compact cameras. Thats one reason why I say that they take more skill to get the most out of. Diliff | (Talk) (Contribs) 20:47, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I reviewed your article, Battle of Marion, for GA. It is very well done and has passed GA. I removed some periods from captions (only use periods for full sentences) and delinked officers per MoS:Overlinking and underlinking. (It needed disambiguation anyway.) Great job. Congratulations! Wikipedia:WikiProject Stringed Instruments

[edit]

Thanks for the enquiry on my talk page, regarding coodinator status.

What's involved? I'm certainly happy to be involved in administrative overheads, just so long as I still can reserve some time for (directly) improving articles. I find that this is good essential for my wikistress level. And I'm expecting to be involved in Wikipedia generally, and fretted instrument articles in particular, for some time to come. God willing.

So I'm very interested in this Wikiproject, and delighted that it's starting up. Andrewa (talk) 02:34, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Getting people involved is the main challenge as I see it. It's hard work and my salesmanship in this area has not been good in the past.

I am happy to be listed as a coordinator if this helps, and see how it goes. Andrewa (talk) 20:12, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Acorn-bunch.png

[edit]
File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Acorn-bunch.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 08:08, 3 April 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Radiant chains (talk) 08:08, 3 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Acorn-bunch.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Radiant chains (talk) 23:37, 3 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

My reward for you

[edit]

Hello. You don´t know it but it was long ago, thanks to you that I learned and mastered the hard and difficult class of formatting and style decors on wikipedia; specially in my user page. You were the first advanced or high-quality editor I met, and I watched at your edits, special formatting and source code. Although I did read to wikipedia´s manual of styles, tutorials and other topic helps, there were some things that I didn´t understand so well, others that I didn´t realize that could be done and others that I didn´t know how to perform. So it was thanks to your creativity and original style that I could develop some advanced formatting, so as a reward, I give you this:

GA Sweeps invitation

[edit]

Hello, I hope you are doing well. I am sending you this message since you are a member of the GA WikiProject. I would like to invite you to consider helping with the GA sweeps process. Sweeps helps to ensure that the oldest GAs still meet the criteria, and improve the quality of GAs overall. Unfortunately, last month only two articles were reviewed. This is definitely a low point after our peak at the beginning of the process when 163 articles were reviewed in September 2007. After nearly two years, the running total has just passed the 50% mark. In order to expediate the reviewing, several changes have been made to the process. A new worklist has been created, detailing which articles are left to review. All exempt and previously reviewed articles have already been removed from the list. Instead of reviewing by topic, you can consider picking and choosing whichever articles interest you.

We are always looking for new members to assist with the remaining articles, so if you are interested or know of anybody that can assist, please visit the GA sweeps page. In addition, for every member that reviews 100 articles or has a significant impact on the process, s/he will get an award when they reach that threshold. If only 14 editors achieve this feat starting now, we would be done with Sweeps! Of course, having more people reviewing less articles would be better for all involved, so please consider asking others to help out. Feel free to stop by and only review a few articles, something's better than nothing! Take a look at the list, and see what articles interest you. Let's work to complete Sweeps so that efforts can be fully focused on the backlog at GAN. If you have any questions about the process, reviewing, or need help with a particular article, please contact me or OhanaUnited and we'll be happy to help. --Happy editing!

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 12:19, 2 July 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Calliopejen1 (talk) 12:19, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Thanks again

[edit]

I´m glad you liked your present. As I said (a long ago), your design and stuff here in wikipedia really helped me out. Now my page is at it´s third generation, I have become a master editor, a tipster, and I even got some adoptees to teach and guide through wikipedia. My specialty has become the special design (originally helped a lot by you), and I always try to show the corresponding recognition to other editors (like in your case). My motto is "The only mistake is not doing anything at all".
Happy editings, and I hope you stay more to help building the sum of all human knowledge. Regards: - Damërung . -- 02:17, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Painting polygon.PNG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Painting polygon.PNG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 19:55, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Polygon_wood_memorial.PNG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Polygon_wood_memorial.PNG. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. PhilKnight (talk) 13:22, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Redmarkviolinist! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 8 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

April 2010 GAN backlog elimination drive

[edit]
WikiProject Good Articles will be running a GAN backlog elimination drive for the entire month of April. The goal of this drive is to bring the number of outstanding Good Article nominations down to below 200. This will help editors in restoring confidence to the GAN process as well as actively improving, polishing, and rewarding good content. If you are interested in participating in the drive, please place your name here. Awards will be given out to those who review certain numbers of GANs as well as to those who review the most. Hope we can see you in April.
