Request for image for the page
In the page of Narendra Modi, I think the best image to be applied is the File:PM Narendra Modi.jpg, because this is the official portrait of the Prime Minister of India. So, I request you to not to change the image and also not block my account. Sdg100 (talk) 15:43, 20 September 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Sdg100, I understand where you're coming from. If you want to see the official image in the infobox you'll have to bring it up on the talk page. Good day Prolix 💬 18:27, 20 September 2020 (UTC)
What does it mean, to bring it up in the talk page. Sdg100 (talk) 02:28, 21 September 2020 (UTC)
- Sdg100, go to Talk:Narendra Modi and create a new section with an appropriate title. Explain your reasoning for the usage of File:PM Narendra Modi.jpg and hope that people agree with you. If you still face issues, let me know and I can start a discussion on your behalf. Prolix 💬 08:03, 21 September 2020 (UTC)
Sure, if any problem occurs, I would definitely inform you. Thank you for your guidance! Sdg100 (talk) 09:19, 21 September 2020 (UTC)
There is no response in the talk page of Narendra Modi, please help me. Sdg100 (talk) 16:06, 21 September 2020 (UTC)
- Sdg100, responses usually take time. You could ask other editors who've engaged in discussion on that talk page to voice their opinion on this issue. Prolix 💬 16:56, 21 September 2020 (UTC)
Please help me in using the File:PM Narendra Modi.jpg in that page. There is no response. Sdg100 (talk) 09:27, 25 September 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Sdg100, that is likely because no one has any issues with the current image. You could try sending talk page messages to users who edit the page often. Prolix 💬 11:09, 25 September 2020 (UTC)
If there is no issue with the image, so I think I should use this image. Sdg100 (talk) 15:37, 25 September 2020 (UTC)
- Sdg100, That is not how it works, you have to establish consensus that your image is preferred over the one that is currently being used. There has already been a discussion and the current image was chosen, you need to establish consensus that File:PM Narendra Modi.jpg is preferred. If you are unable to do so, do not change the image. Besides the image you suggest is already being used on the Prime Minister of India page. Prolix 💬 17:04, 25 September 2020 (UTC)
Kerala
I demand from you a reason for your revert regarding the wrong addition of "Hindi" into the group of langauges. There was a source cited, which doesn't mention this language as the official language of Kerala, only Malayalam and English. https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/kerala/malayalam-is-officiallanguage-from-may-1/article18259641.ece , and still you wrote in the edit summary: "No sources back up your claims." Kindly stop making irrational comments about other people's work on wikipedia. ThaThinThaKiThaTha (talk) 08:14, 27 September 2020 (UTC)
- ThaThinThaKiThaTha, Since you could not pinpoint where it was falsely added to the article I reverted your edits under the assumption that you were trying to disruptively remove content, which you seem to have had a history of doing. Prolix 💬 13:14, 27 September 2020 (UTC)

The Odia IPA [oɽiˈsaː] appears twice now (one after "Odia", one after "Orissa")? –Austronesier (talk) 13:14, 2 October 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Austronesier, I wasn't sure what to do with the Odia IPA pronunciation since it hasn't changed with the official names of the state. Should it be removed for the former name? Prolix 💬 13:28, 2 October 2020 (UTC)
- I think, we only need it once after "Odia". A second IPA would only be necessecary if the Odia name actually also had changed. –Austronesier (talk) 13:46, 2 October 2020 (UTC)
- Austronesier, I agree. I've made the change. Hope its fine now! Prolix 💬 14:59, 2 October 2020 (UTC)

Your edit on Yogi Adityanath
I noticed that you reverted my edit on Yogi Adityanath. For now, I now moved that part to Yogi Adityanath#Controversies. But I think what he did in his official capacity as a Chief Minister should be listed in Chief Minister section.
When reverting someone's edit please consider using "Undo" option instead of manually deleting and editing. Otherwise that the editors whose edit you revert may not get notification. See WP:UNDO. Wikiuser13 (talk | contribs) 06:49, 4 October 2020 (UTC)
- Wikiuser13, thanks for moving it to the appropriate section. He's done a lot of things as chief minister, therefore only notable actions should be included there to maintain brevity. Any contentious actions should be added to the controversy section.
- I don't fully understand your request regarding the 'undo' button. I'm aware of what it is and what it does. I use Redwarn instead, which I find to be far more user friendly. Have a pleasant day! Prolix 💬 07:28, 4 October 2020 (UTC)

Could you take a look?
Hi Prolix, I hope you're doing great. Could you take a look at the dispute happening in the page William Finch (merchant). Thanks. Jenos450 (talk) 06:58, 4 October 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Jenos450, I possess little knowledge regarding this matter and as a result have nothing much to add to the discussion. Thanks for asking though! Prolix 💬 07:39, 4 October 2020 (UTC)
Hi, I restarted edits after a long gap. Thanks for your guidance.
Earlier, I was trying to fix CII's latest logo. Was unable to update. Apology for making test edits on the live page.
I didn't know that left align is not allowed in case of image insert in a section - History. I think the left and the right combination of images would give a better view on the page and those will come next to related paragraphs. However, I will go with you as per your guidance.
You have deleted another paragraph, I added on Indian PM, Mr. Atal Bihar Vajpayee's address at CII in 1998. Kindly advise me on this. Amanjha1 (talk) 14:31, 5 October 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Amanjha1, no issues regarding the logo, it happens to all of us! There's no rule regarding alignment as far as I know, it all comes down to what suits the article the best. I personally found that left aligned images tend to mess with the structure and hence I try to avoid it unless absolutely necessary. However, I have aligned one image to left as per your request. I do apologize for the removal of Atal ji's image and the relevant paragraph, it must have happened while I was reverting your edits, kindly add it back at your discretion. Thanks and have a nice day! Prolix 💬 15:03, 5 October 2020 (UTC)
Thanks Prolix. I have restored Atalji's paragraph with his image. However, I have kept all pics left aligned as they are moving out of the History section in left-right combination. Hope this is ok? Amanjha1 (talk) 03:41, 6 October 2020 (UTC)
- Amanjha1, no I don't think that will do. You can see how it moves the section headers around. Images on wikipedia rarely line up with their corresponding section, see HAL. I still feel that we can have only one left aligned image at best. Prolix 💬 07:37, 6 October 2020 (UTC)

Hello,
I recently made a some edits on the page Naxalite-Maoist insurgency claiming about other belligerents. You said it requires a cite but those pages already mention it so would I need other sources? Kommune12 (talk) 19:30, 7 October 2020 (UTC)

Hi. I was wondering if you would gives us insight on the talk page regarding Air India’s flight to London-Heathrow regarding of being a scheduled flight or not. Lot of sockpuppetry and article has been semi protected for 10 days. Regards! Rzxz0839 (talk) 15:21, 8 October 2020 (UTC)
- Rzxz0839, I agree with LeoFrank here. As far as my knowledge goes, this flight seems to be operating under the Vande Bharat mission and therefore has no place in the article owing to its temporary nature. Unless a reliable third party source confirms a permanent scheduled service to Heathrow (which is unlikely given the current circumstances) this flight should not be added. among Gujarat revert
You reverted my copyedit here[1] concerning "among" and "amongst". However, I was thinking, since the two words mean the same thing, shouldn't we aim for consistency in the article? Before I got to the article, it already used "amongst" more than "among", and it still does. Since the article currently uses "amongst" predominantly, wouldn't it make more sense to change all instances of "among" to "amongst"?Funtoedit1212 (talk) 16:23, 13 October 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Funtoedit1212, there is no binding policy that mandates only a certain word or synonym be used in articles. That choice is left up to the editor. It is my opinion that 'Among' be used since its usage is far more common. That does not mean that 'Amongst' cannot be used anywhere, it can and its mostly a personal preference for certain editors. Hi! could you please take a look at the draft: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:OK_Play_India_Limited
Thanks :) Fedderlloyds (talk) 09:00, 15 October 2020 (UTC) |
- Hi Fedderlloyds, your draft looks promising. You need to take care of the notability guidelines though or your page will likely be rejected. Make sure you use secondary sources in the draft as much as possible. Add a controversy section if there have been any and cite for every claim.I've made some minor copyedits and moved the page since legal suffixes are not supposed to be included in the title unless you're disambiguating. Good luck! Prolix 💬 12:23, 15 October 2020 (UTC)
Jio
Hi @Prolix: Why did you revert ny copyedit on the Jio article. Most of the routine announcements, stuff that asserts WP:NOTADVERTISING, straight up routine branding information, non-encyclopedic content and run-of-the-mill pronouncements. scope_creepTalk 12:50, 16 October 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Scope creep, I made the mistake of looking at the most recent diff and reverting without checking your previous edits. I looked at your most recent edit where you removed the section about Jio TV and reverted to restore it, I didn't realise you'd made atleast 8 other edits before that one. I usually don't make such mistakes but I did this time somehow, so I apologise. That said I do feel that you removed certain sections due to lack of citations/promotional writing that deserve inclusion. I hope you don't mind me reinstating those sections with proper sources and better writing. I really appreciate you clarifying with me here! Prolix 💬 13:36, 16 October 2020 (UTC)

Infobox Images at "Delhi" page
Hi, You have reverted my edit here : https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Delhi stating "not to change infobox images on a whim" warning me with WP:RW. I think adding a new Collage with latest images to the infobox is a good edit. Earlier infobox had a very low quality "all-in-one" Photomontage (Single Image). The new montage has separate, individual, clickable images that can be enlarged when you click/tap them. New montage also has a Gurudwara, depicting the "all-colour" pluralism of India. If you have any issue with this montage, please be specific and address it. I will sort it out.Serv181920 (talk) 13:56, 16 October 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Serv181920, the issue is not with you changing the montage, however, such changes usually require consensus as a lot of people would like to pitch in on what images to display in the infobox. So please create a new section in the infobox asking if people would like to see changes in the montage. Please read WP:CONS and WP:BRD. Thanks and have a nice day. Prolix 💬 14:16, 16 October 2020 (UTC)

If you disagree with my edit, please give me a valid reason. Is there anything that is improper? I have just replaced a night image of "Connaught Place" with that of "Gurudwara Bangla Sahib" that also lies in the same area. If you want we can start a discussion on the talk page of "Delhi". Using "order" parameter in infobox
See Template:Infobox officeholder#Usage Snickers2686 (talk) 16:37, 16 October 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Snickers2686, according to my understanding of the template documentation, numbering is fine if such usage has been prevalent in reliable sources. In the case of Ram Nath Kovind and Narendra Modi, there have been many sources that refer to both as the 14th president and prime minister respectively. Prolix 💬 17:43, 16 October 2020 (UTC)
Update on content
Hi There I wanting to add Software product management on HCL technologies wiki page as this company deals with product development, releasing and selling of the software products. I want to add this to introduction page, service and industry columns. I also want to add software division website under website address - https://www.hcltechsw.com Evidence of product management can be found at above website. Do you want to verify anything before I edit the page again and I request you not to revert. Tx Rafs1234 (talk) 19:11, 17 October 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Rafs1234, the use of primary sources on Wikipedia is highly discouraged. I suggest you look for independent secondary sources before making any changes. Prolix 💬 19:16, 17 October 2020 (UTC)
Hi @Prolix Did you mean that before I make an edit, that content should be supported by secondary content like any analyst report which talks about software product management about HCL? If yes, I have analysts reporting talking about software products of this company hence was editing the content. If I have not understood it correctly, will you be kind to explain this simpler and in detail? Tx Rafs1234 (talk) 19:49, 17 October 2020 (UTC)
- Rafs1234, not necessarily. Any news article that talks about HCL's product offerings would do. Even so we usually avoid terms like 'software product management' since they're intentionally vague corporate jargon. If you can find a meaningful and specific product offering feel free to add it. Temples
Here, you either didn't read the source to the end, or didn't understand it correctly. Johnbod (talk) 12:50, 22 October 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Johnbod, the diff you linked to has one source. My understanding of its content was that there is one temple dedicated to the Pandavas on the hill, but the Palitana temples are still primarily considered a Jain pilgrimage site. Therefore it would be a stretch to call it a cluster of Jain and Hindu temples since there is only one Hindu temple there. The user also added that the site is considered sacred in Shaivism and Vaishnavism, a claim for which I was unable to find any evidence in the citation provided. If I am still missing something or interpreting this in a suboptimal manner please do let me know so I can correct myself. Prolix 💬 13:16, 22 October 2020 (UTC)
- True, but you just removed all mention of the Hindu temple, which apart from anything else will just lead to edit-warring. Johnbod (talk) 13:46, 22 October 2020 (UTC)
- Johnbod, I agree, I could have handled the situation more tactfully. It certainly wasn't my intention to discredit the user's contributions or potentially start an edit war. I'll be more mindful of reverting when the content is partly accurate from here on. Thanks for bringing this up John, I really appreciate it. Prolix 💬 14:23, 22 October 2020 (UTC)

HCL Wiki
Hi Prolix, I have attached all the references for incldued product management for HCL page, sorry but what's the buzzword here? As we discussed last, I have not used buzz word like software product management rather used product management which incudes family of products. There are sevral products that I can't add all of them so used Product management which is meaningful. Can you please let me know how do I include product offerings? Appreciate your guidance here Rafs123 (talk) 19:13, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
- Rafs123, Product management is a very vague term that means very little without sufficient context. The citation you keep adding doesn't mention HCL or 'product management'. I'm sorry but this doesn't feel like a meaningful addition at this point. Prolix 💬 07:41, 24 October 2020 (UTC)
Hi Prolix, thanks understood now and will avoid this vague term. Can you please review the below as I think below is more specific doesn’t look vague and open ended.
HCL Technologies Limited, is an Indian multinational information technology (IT) software development, services and consulting company headquartered in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India. Its best known softwares are from automation, commerce & marketing, data management, secure Devops, digital and mainframe solution.
Please suggest if there are still any objectionable words that I can rework.
References given earlier either livening or gartner peer insight review support my addition. Thanks Rafs123 (talk) 11:10, 24 October 2020 (UTC)
- Rafs123, I don't see any reason to lengthen the lead to include the company's product offerings, many of which are quite broad and serve no purpose to the reader. Such product offerings should not be included in the lead anyway. You could add it to the products section in the infobox but only with adequate citations. Prolix 💬 13:23, 24 October 2020 (UTC)
Prolix - I have added software development (not all product lines) to lead conveys the development part of HCL and included software development in infobox with livemint reference where it’s confirmed that HCL has responsibility of developing, maintaining, releasing, and selling of its product line. I hope this meets the criteria and fulfill yours and other admin’s expectations. Let’s not revert it as it’s the minimum, meaningful and helpful addition for users. Thanks Rafs123 (talk) 03:52, 25 October 2020 (UTC)
- Rafs123, like I said before, it is part of their service offerings, and hence belongs only in the services part of the infobox. I've made the changes accordingly Prolix 💬 08:11, 25 October 2020 (UTC)
Prolix - Understand and thanks. I have a last request, since I have referenced that HCL is responsible for developing, selling and marketing its software products which is nothing but a finished outcome of software development process. Can we rename “software development” to “software product development” OR “software product management” under service section of infobox. In my view this will give a clear information to user that HCL is into finished product development and not just building software which isn’t qualified to be called as product. As product has specific lifecycle and not merely bunch of codes. Since we agree to keep this change at one place, I request you to modify this. Thanks for your cooperation Rafs123 (talk) 12:10, 25 October 2020 (UTC)
- Rafs123, software development is a general term used for any company or business involved in building some sort of software product. It's implied that they are building products. Prolix 💬 14:27, 25 October 2020 (UTC)
Ok Prolix, I understand the implicit part. We will not make any more changes and leave it to the point where you included software development under service. Thanks and this update process has given me a learning for future updates to wiki pages. Thanks again Rafs123 (talk) 18:19, 25 October 2020 (UTC)

- Before reverting my absolutely good revisions, talk to me. Rather than telling me to ‘Use IAST’, talk to me. Idell (talk) 17:51, 26 October 2020 (UTC)
Hindi is not official language of puducherry
Let's me know what is official language of puducherry, how dare, you are again and again asserted that hindi is official language of puducherry, have you ever find any other states like that except official language of hindi as a whole india in india wikipedia page , you have been making wrong edits wrong......warning back to me as that account will be blocked ??? Kkkraj (talk) 18:11, 26 October 2020 (UTC)
- Kkkraj, before you remove content as per your opinions without providing any reasoning in your edit summaries, take a look at the relevant citations that are already in the article. Prolix 💬 18:18, 26 October 2020 (UTC)
- Prolix, that source does not say that Hindi is an official language of Puducherry, though. The UT has a number of official languages, but Hindi is not one of them – since Hindi is an official language of India (or the Indian government, anyway), it can also be used, as specified in that document, but that doesn't make it an official language. Kkkraj is not editing constructively, and is unfortunately edit warring, but the inclusions of Hindi that they are removing were added in July by an IP who added "Hindi" indiscriminately in quotes and elsewhere, and I can't find that that is correct. On the contrary, every single source I find says that the official languages are Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, English, and French! I see no reason to edit war to keep Hindi in, when we have no sources to support it, and several sources supporting its absence. (Obviously, Kkkraj's removals of sources is not OK, but I think they simply don't understand how Wikipedia works, and in addition they are frustrated and upset – never a good combo.) --bonadea contributions talk 19:13, 26 October 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Bonadea, I looked through it again, it seems that the president can order that Hindi be used as an official language, it's merely a provision apparently. So yeah, it seems it is not an official language as of now. Thanks for pointing this out, I missed it. This one's on me, I ought to have looked into it more thoroughly. I see you made the necessary changes on the page, thanks for that as well! Prolix 💬 03:42, 27 October 2020 (UTC)

Sockpuppet
If you see similar edits like this one, kindly revert them. Work of sockfarm user:President26. Typically adds Indic Script using a "big" template, removes old names or WP:COMMONNAMEs from the article. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 12:17, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
- Fylindfotberserk, thanks for pointing it out, will do so. Prolix 💬 12:30, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
why did you reverted my edits? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Esigh (talk • contribs) 14:15, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
- Esigh, because the phrase
2007 first-person shooter
implies that the subject being referred to is a video game, it is unnecessary to restate it. Prolix 💬 18:06, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
Your Signature
Just thought I might drop a note, your signature seems to WP:CUSTOMSIG/P, as it attracts attention to your thread, it also is quite hard to read, and breaks the minimum colour ratio recommendation (failing WP:ACCESS), the shadow also seems to go over other lines. I'm not saying you have to change it in any way and if you want you can keep it, but it might be something to consider to make a better colour contrast and make the drop shadow smaller. — Yours, Berrely • Talk∕Contribs 15:08, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Berrely, thanks for bringing this to my notice. When I first made this signature I had checked it using this toolforge site to make sure there were no issues. I believe the site wasn't able to consider the rather nuanced issues that you brought up. I'll definitely consider making changes as per your advice. Prolix 💬 16:10, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
Reverted edits on Raji: An Ancient Epic's page. rev. 986176503
Hi Prolix,
This is Shreyash from Nodding Heads Games. I have had problems in the past with the name being mistaken as Shreyas instead of Shreyash(not on Wikipedia) hence I made sure it stays correct on our game's page. Our website has not been updated in a while and this name confusion still exists even in the team itself. Though I understand that I would need direct sources to confirm this, I do not have anything except for my own social media. I know this is a minor change and its not the end of the world if the name remains the way it is right now. However, I'd really appreciate it if you edit it back to 'Shreyash Pai'. If you still do not wish to do that, then I won't pursue it any further and, like you mentioned, would assume good faith. If you would like to get in touch with me, I'd be more than happy to provide you with my contact details and make an effort to prove it to you that I am infact the artist in question. This is the first time I'm using Wikipedia to edit articles and 'talk' to someone directly so please pardon any shabby formatting and/or discrepancies. Thank you!
Best Regards, Shreyash Pai P.s. If it helps, the end credits of the game mentions my name in its truest form Yash3d19 (talk) 05:54, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Yash3d19, I have no idea if you really are who you claim to be and I have no intentions to confirm it. Either ways you should read WP:COI and disclose any affiliations accordingly. I do understand your request, however on Wikipedia, most changes require a reliable source to back it up. Unfortunately, social media sites are not considered reliable since they're almost entirely user generated. If you really would like to see this corrected, I suggest you make the change on the studio's website which in turn can be used to make the change on Wikipedia. You could also provide a third party source (news websites) that uses the correct spelling of your supposed name as a citation. Hope my answer was satisfactory. Wish you well. Prolix 💬 07:00, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
- Well that makes sense. I'll have a chat with our website manager and try getting the name updated. If that works I'll make the necessary edits citing the same source. If it doesn't then, it may as well be the way it is. Thanks mate. Yash3d19 (talk) 08:39, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
- Yash3d19, that would be great. Wish you luck with your current and future endeavours. Have a nice day! Prolix 💬 11:51, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
